Looking for a handhold and advice as I am feeling very down but don't know if I am being unreasonable.

I was pregnant at 26 after a ONS and had an abortion. It was the first time ever not using protection. I took the morning after pill, but it didn't work either. Based on this, I assumed I would get pregnant easily when the time was right.

Fast forward 11 years, I have now been trying to conceive casually for 8 months (unprotected sex, but pull out method), and seriously (unprotected sex at the middle of my cycle) for 2 months. My period is regular and no trouble, but 3 years ago I was diagnosed with a large fibroid (they said it was the size of a grapefruit and measured the size of a 3 month pregnancy). I think it has got bigger as I have gained weight.

I am also now suffering with lower back pain and knee pain, which I think may be linked to the fibroid now being bigger ( I am going for a scan to check the fibroid next week).

My DH is overweight, but apart from that, he has never tested to see if any issues with his fertility.

I am wondering what to do, and whether there is something wrong? Why am I not getting pregnant?

Where is the fibroid? It could likely be the cause!

Definitely look into the fibroid situation and getting it resolved but the pull out method also isn’t necessarily going to do the trick. I know it can only take one and women regularly get pregnant doing it, but that’s not going to work unless the stars really do align, especially if it’s not during ovulation.

We’ve been trying actively during the fertile week for over two years and nothing has happened, not a single bfp, probably because my husband has reduced motility. Even a few million less sperm can have a huge impact, so if most of them are missing the target and if you’re not trying at the right time I wouldn’t count those months really, at least don’t beat yourself up about them. Try not to worry, get the fibroid sorted and go from there.

I had an appointment with my GP who said that if my fibroids are not causing symptoms that impact my period, it's unlikely they will be the type that impacts my fertility. He is not keen to investigate the fibroid further as he thinks they are symptomless. He is instead urging both my partner and I to get a full fertility MOT
