Low amh 1.3

Scrumpy10 · 27/10/2021 22:02

This is my first time on this forum and I would love to know if anyone has experience of this.

I am just 41 been trying to conceive for 2 years. Finally this year we had some tests and husband has low motility. We went to see fertility clinic and I had scan and blood test last week. Amh was 1.3 and they said could only see 2 follicles on my scan. They were very candid about chance of success with my own eggs. Has anyone had experience of IVF success with low Amh and are there any better alternatives?

@Scrumpy10 wow doesn't sound like the nurses response to you was very sensitive! Can I ask where in the country you are? We are in Bedfordshire not far from London but far enough to make regular trips difficult. I have done a full circle in my mind with regards to clinics. It's led me back to ARGC but they are so costly and I would have to take weeks off work. Just travel expenses could wipe us out financially!

Please keep me posted. I am at the end of my tether.

@Lulu106 we are in the East Midlands Nottinghamshire. I know exactly where you are coming from as I work full time and taking time off for appointments and financial costs is a huge undertaking isn't it? Maybe have a look if Care have any webiners? We are all individuals so what isn't right for me might be good for you.

I know people sometimes go abroad for ivf and that must take a lot of planning and costs to get there when if the treatment itself is cheaper.

I feel like I have so much to learn about IVF and indeed if I can even start treatment. So this week I decided to start with a few lifestyle changes and had first fertility accupuncture appointment last week and going to keep it up, making diet changes, taking COQ10. I actually feel a bit calmer for taking control of the things I can change.

@Scrumpy10 I think I'm destroyed because I have tired every alternative treatment possible. Accupuncture, homeopathy, fertility coaching, hypnosis. It's what makes it harder. I feel I have done everything I can and to be fair my ovarian reserve seems good but I couldn't make blastocysts and my one little bean didn't implant. Beyond devastated.

Scrumpy10 · 06/11/2021 19:23

@Lulu106 I can't imagine how you feel as it sounds horrendous to have so much promise at the start. I think as you got so many eggs it is worth you trying again. It sounds like you can't do more than you are doing. I hope and pray it all works out for you next time.

I am at the beginning of this and it feels like a mine field. I have had two weeks of crying myself to sleep. I had a good chat with my husband and we have both agreed that if we try and it doesn't work at least when we are old we can say we tried.

@Scrumpy10 thanks. I'm thinking of you too. Please don't let it upset you before you even try. This can happen for you x

Hi,
I've just read this thread and I'm sorry to hear of your struggles.
I'm wondering how you've got on since?
I just found out today that I have very low AMH and have taken a lot from the comments in this post. I only have 2 follicles so have been advised to go straight for IVF. This is through create who have been great so far.

X

@Pippin34 thank you for the message. I did join one of the Create information webiners and it sounds good. I have a consultation booked to NewLife in Greece for early March as I wanted to investigate treatment abroad and their consultation is free. I haven't had a consult with Create yet. I did have one with both Care and then sent the test results to Nurture and had a second consultation. They both had the same response that I would be best to go for donor eggs. I don't really want to use donor eggs and if I did I would use a donor from abroad where you can be more selective.

Since my test results I made some changes by taking more supplements DHEA and COQ10 gold from Pharmanord, having accupuncture and just trying to be a bit healthier. I had a private AFC scan this week to send to Greece as they asked for one day 1 to 4 of my period and the follicle count was much better. I had 4 on the right and 1 on the left. The previous scan I had AFC =0 zero and they said there were 2 sacs on the left ovary which maybe follicles or a cyst and the right ovary was small with no follicles. I suppose these things can improve throughput cycles but I was surprised it was better.

Good luck with your treatment with Create. I definitely will book a consultation with them. I put it off for a bit as after paying for consultations at Care and Nurture I kind of didn't want to hear the same thing again at more cost but it sounds like they are more positive with very low amh.

@Scrumpy10

Please do not lose hope. Last year, at the age of 32, I discovered that I have a low amh of 3.25pmol/l. I had 3 follicles. I had a cyst on my ovary too.

I discovered later I had a subclinical thyroid. I also had a vitamin D deficiency. I remedied these two things.

I had one cycle of ARGC which was not successful due to a late trigger but I got 6 eggs.

Since then I have started "oocyte accumulation", which is essentially freezing as many eggs as possible and then fertilising.
ER 2 - I got 5 eggs, 4 were mature.
ER 3 - I got 4 eggs, 3 were mature.
ER 4 - 1 mature egg.
ER 5 - Feb 2022 due

The aim is to get a "good egg", the fact is, your ovary has a good egg inside, it is just a matter of finding it, and fertilising it. It is a longer process when we have a low AMH.

I have looked at clinics here and abroad, please check the LIFE Clinic - Dr Yelian in California. He has helped women with very low AMH and very high FSH become pregnant.

Create Fertility in the UK also help women with low AMH.

If I give you one piece of advice, you need to be prepared to many many more cycles if you want a biological child.

If you are on instagram follow a handle called "infertility struggles", she did 19 cycles with severely low AMH but she got her biological baby in the end.

Abracadabra12 · 24/01/2022 15:46

I'm in a similar situation - I'm 36 and my AMH is 1.8. I told the clinic I was interested in IUI as I'm single and donor sperm so haven't been trying naturally so far. They said that given how few follicles they saw there wouldn't be much point in IVF but I could give IUI a go. I've been taking CoQ10 but realised reading these threads I need to take a much higher dosage - have just ordered the pharmanord capsules online!

Pippin34 · 24/01/2022 20:16

@Scrumpy10 I had initially only gone to Create for the baseline scan as things have been so slow from the nhs (been waiting for an initial phone call consultation since July and it is scheduled in for March) My consultation was to inform me on the scan which showed 2 follicles and blood test showed amh level of 0.7. They said chance of conception is 15-20%. She didn't talk about donor eggs and just said I needed to go straight for ivf. I have another consultation booked in for next week and I imagine she will talk about donor eggs then but initially ivf with my own eggs is the first step. I hear that other clinics might not consider me with my results but create specialise in low amh so they will at least give it a try (£360 for baseline scan Inc consultation and I opted for blood test on top £135)
I have ordered some COQ10 and will start acupuncture in a week or so, how are finding it?
How more selective can you be with abroad donor eggs? I have heard this but haven't seen what further information you can have.
Great news that you now have 4 follicles that's really positive.

@Ivfhoper sounds like you got a good amount if eggs. Were these from 3 follicles?
Thanks for your recommendation for the Instagram infertility struggles. It's nice to hear of a positive outcome.

Does anyone know if you have an egg collection for example and there are no eggs to collect that month, does this class as one of your rounds? We are doing a package of three rounds but I new to all this so I don't know what it all means really.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 24/01/2022 20:45

Hi @Pippin34 and @Abracadabra12 - please look into Ubiquinol over CoQ10! Might be better for you. X

Scrumpy10 · 27/01/2022 15:19

@Ivfhoper thank you for sharing your positive story and congratulations.

@Pippin34 hope everything is going well. My husband is still waiting for his NHS follow up appointment on the NHS as he has very low motility. It has been rescheduled until February and I am really hoping it doesn't get cancelled again. I find the accupuncture very relaxing and so at least it having a calming impact on me. Plus my scan results have improved and so maybe the combination of that and the vitamins helped. I have a couple of friends who were trying to conceive for years and after accupuncture they got pregnant naturally so thought I would try it out. On the donor eggs when I spoke with the UK clinics it was very general build, eye and hair colour. With the Greek clinic they said I can be more selective and ask about interests and education. They also wanted photos to help find a match. In Greece it is completely anonymous and so the child will not be able to trace the donor when they are 18 which in the UK they can. In the US it is even more selective but very expensive.

Hello, Me and my sister are in the same boat and I just wondered if this moved on? And if you had any advice on IVF journey or IVF clinics?
