PCOS- anyone had reflexology to help rather than clomid, etc?

I've been diagnosed with PCOS. Ive had one period since coming off the pill in May.

I had blood tests, a scan and a very miserble unsympathetic doctor tell me there is nothing she can do until next May when I've been trying (officially) for 12 months. I will then have to wait 3 months for a referal and treatment.

So its looking bleak.

i had heard reflexology was great for PCOS, obviously not a guranteed success, but any advice gratefully recieved.

I would look into changing GP practice if your GP is that unhelpful. I would also speak to another GP at that practice if there is one about being referred earlier (you're going to be referred anyway so why are they waiting?. All that does is cause delay). By next May it may take more than 3 further months of waiting to get a referral.

Reflexology is not going to do you any harm so its probably worth a go.

Have a look at Verity's website which is www.verity-pcos.org.uk - this is a helpful site for women with PCOS.

Hi Lollipop.

Just a quick message of support really. I have (allegedly) very severe PCOS - to the point that every doctor/scanner/nurse I have ever seen told me there was no way on this earth that I would ever conceive naturally. I conceived after 2 months of trying.....I was totally against having any treatment so we decided to just go with the flow.

Obviously that won't happen with everyone but just wanted to let you say that sometimes these things aren't as clearcut as the medical profession would lead you to believe.

Anecdotal evidence from friends that have similarly severe PCOS (randomly, I know quite a few) would suggest that a combination of a daily drink of aloe vera juice and reflexology can work absolute wonders in terms of conceiving naturally.

Good luck.

Hi Lolly, if you live in the Windsor/Maidenhead/Slough area I know a lovely lady who specialises in fertility/maternity reflexology. No experience of PCOS but she has helped me with other things. Shout if you want the details. Good luck !!

Hi Lolly,
I'm trying acupuncture for PCOS, can't report whether or not its been successful yet, but at least I feel that I'm doing something iykwim.
The other thing I'm trying to do is lose weight. The Zita West book says that even losing 10% of your weight can really relieve the symptoms of PCOS (obviously that depends whether you're overweight in the first place).
Good luck

Hi Ladies, just catching up here...
I have PCOS, we've been trying for a year with no luck - don't thing I've ovulated since my honeymoon in March! DH isn't great either (low normality count) we're back at the hospital soon when they should be in a position to stick me on clomid or tell us we're best skipping to IVF?
I'm so sick of it all - all my friends have kids or are pregnant my DH is lovely but still tells me it'll happen when it happens! sometimes I wonder if he understands the problems we have at all!
Sorry I'm waffling... Littleladylollipop I'm in South London - can I ask who you've found for the reflexology?
Hope you are all well and had a good christmas?
Here's hoping 2008 delivers lots of babies to this thread.
