Short Luteal Phase

Hi all, I’m just wondering if anyone could offer any advice. We’ve been TTC for 12 months now and feeling very deflated and hopeless. I’m a very positive person but this is really starting to get to me. I have contacted a fertility clinic to get some testing done but in the mean time, is a 10 day luteal phase a sign of a possible issue? I’ve been getting my period at 10 or 11 dpo for the past 4-5 months and my periods are quite light so I’m wondering is this the problem? Any insights would be great! 😊

It could be or it might not be a problem. I also have a 10 day luteal phase, have been TTC since January and have have two very early miscarriages. So I have determined that I can get pregnant, but it ends quickly.

I asked my gynacologist to prescribe Progesterone which I will start to take after ovulation to raise progesterone levels when it's needed most. (My progesterone level in the luteal phase is low). I've also started taking baby aspirin after reading about it on here. Both can't really harm, and may help, so am giving them a go!

Incidentally the first pregnancy happened after I took Soy Isoflavones on CD 3-7, but the second happened without me taking them.

@Kaw10 I’m so sorry to hear about your MC’s. Thank you for that insight, I’ve read about progesterone helping a short luteal phase so I might ask for a prescription when I meet my consultant. Wishing you all the best of luck over the next few months 🤞🏼❤️

Hi OP, I had an 8 day luteal phase which I was worried sick about but I am currently 29 weeks pregnant - took us nine months (first baby) and I’ve seen lots of other posters on here get pregnant too with the same issue!
As it’s been 12 months definitely look into the progesterone issue but it can and does happen - fingers crossed and best of luck!!

@Asthenia Thank you so much for that! It’s just hard to keep the faith after so many months of negatives but hearing your story really helps ☺️

@Spark2022 honestly I really empathise with you, I found it really tough especially as all the stories I read were either of people getting pregnant within 3 months or people taking years and having issues - I never read any inbetween.
The month I conceived I’d also had two sessions of acupuncture for a short luteal phase - of course I don’t know if the BFP was down to that at all but if it’s something you can afford I definitely recommend. My acupuncturist said sometimes things just need a little realigning!

@Asthenia Acupuncture is something a friend of mine suggested too so I might look into that! Thank you, fingers crossed I’ll be following in your footsteps soon ☺️

My LP was around 10-11 days and after 3 months of BFN I decided to do some research on how to lengthen it. I took Vitamin C and B6 (recommended) daily along with my usual folic acid and Vitamin D and conceived that cycle, good luck!
