Continuously positive FRER, pregnancy symptoms but negative blood test?

Hi Ladies

Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, I have been getting consistently positive FRER for the last four days. For the first time ever, suddenly my boobs became noticeably swollen, and feel different. I have had back ache and low-level cramps for almost a week. Today I had an HCG blood test taken and the level was less than 5, came home and took a FRER and still positive.

Can blood tests be wrong?

With blood tests, we have to go to our gp with our symptoms and they can decide if we need a blood test or not. You could probably ask them to check bloods too but not sure how that would go for me at the moment with the blood bottle shortage going on, it’s urgent bloods only where I am.

@Lineeye I thinks yours are positive.

@Lou8788 I think you may have a chemical pregnancy but since you're using frers the blood test seems too early to do. I'd do a few more frer and if they get darker I'd call the GP for another test.

Good luck both

Thank you so much for your support ladies! No sign of AF yet. Had an ultrasound today but they said a bit early as not 5 weeks yet, but can potentially see a little something that could be the start of a sac. It's a bit of wait and see which TTC so often is!

I did find this interesting little segment in the booklet which stuck out to me because I have pituitary issues. Wondering if this could be where my HCG is coming from on these FRERs. Just a thought for us all!

Have you done any more frers?

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 07/10/2021 07:50

And @Lineeye how are you?

Lineeye · 07/10/2021 08:39

I had a positive cb digital yesterday at 1-2 weeks but started bleeding yesterday evening and have a full on period today, only a day late, so looks like it was another chemical for me. My lines on the frer never got darker.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 07/10/2021 08:43

Oh no, very sorry to hear that :( Flowers

@Lineeye sorry to hear that ❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss ❤ it doesn't matter how early it always hurts. I think I'm about to join you there too unfortunately. I suppose at least we know conception is possible, and that these tests work. So many happy thoughts your way x

Thanks everyone, it’s my fourth early loss now but have had two healthy full term pregnancies over the past 7 years. I think I will avoid testing early next time. I’m not quite so upset this time, it’s just one of those things for me now. I’m just glad it’s over with relatively quickly and hasn’t dragged on another couple of weeks, I was really worried about the possibility that it could be ectopic.

@Lou8788 I hope it all works out for you, and if it doesn’t that your next cycle is successful. I conceived my son the cycle straight after a chemical. X

The thought of an ectopic is super scary, that's why I had the ultrasound. Huge relief to know it isn't for both of us. Thank you you much for your encouragement, it makes me so happy to know that you have had two children 😊 gives me hope as my only other pregnancy was am ectopic 10 years ago.

Yoire so strong. All the best for next month. Surely it will be our month! X
