Getting really down as with my 1at I came of the pill in August and was pregnant by December and we were not even actually trying.

We have been trying for our 2nd for the last few months and nothing has happened and I was so disappointed when AF arrived this morning.

I have been of the pill for well over a year, (but we haven't actually been trying that long as we were using condoms or pull out method until about 5 months ago)

I've ordered some ovulation sticks of amazon for this cycle as I'm sure I'm getting my dates slightly wrong. Can someone please advise how to actually use them? If the positive result a few days before actual ovulation ?

Also would anyone recommend and vitamins or anything? I've read a lot about conception plus but I'm not sure !!

Is there anything else I should or shouldn't be doing as I'm getting really concerned something is wrong 😥😥😥😥

Hi @Km12345.

So sorry to hear you're feeling down. I totally understand how you feel.

You mentioned you've been trying for a few months, so could be early days and you've already thinking of getting ovulation tests.

For now, I would suggest the following but you do not have to do them all or any, it's completely your choice (sorry it's quite long):

  1. Pregnacare conception his and hers tablets or pregnacare conception tablets.
  1. Wellman for your partner.
  1. App to monitor you're cycle, i.e. start of period, end of period, opk results, bbt, etc.
  1. Take bbt at cycle day 9, depending on how long your cycle length is.
  1. Clearblue fertility monitor is good for ovulation and also you can take pregnancy test with it too. It is pricey though.
  1. Clearblue ovulation 4 days earlier predictor purple sticks. I find these better than the pink ones of clearblue blue. With the purple ones, it tells you 4 days before an LH surge is coming, which means you can have sexual intercourse on those days (high days). Usually, you get a low (empty circle), then high (flashing smiley face) and then peak (static smiley face). Static smiley face would mean your lh surge is very high and you should be ovulating on the day or next day or so. So, best to start testing cycle day 9 and start sexual intercourse every other day/every day. It's your choice on how often you do it. However, read the instructions within the clearblue pack to know when yo start testing as it depends on your cycle length.
  1. It's optional and totally your choice, you can buy a bulk of one step ovulation test strips from Amazon, as they are cheap and can test for lh surge morning, afternoon and evening. They can be hard to read but you can keep each test to see if it's getting darker than the control line.
  1. Vitamin D, but please ask pharmacy or gp before talking it.
  1. Sexual intercourse, you can try the Sperm Meets Egg Plan (SMEP). Google it, as there's set days to have sexual intercourse, which can tire you out and take the joy out of the whole experience. However, no harm in trying.
  1. GP to ask them if they can put you forward for blood test on day 3 and day 21 to see if you are ovulating. Also, if they can do a blood test just to see if there is anything else, i.e. thyroid, pcos, etc. Furthermore, if your partner is comfortable with it, get his sperm analysis done as it takes a while for the appointment via NHS.

This is all I can think of for now, as GP wouldn't put you through NHS referral for fertility until you've been trying for 12 months all depending on your age. However, if you feel you want answers and not getting it quick enough, then go private fertility if this is possible as they would do all the tests quickly with giving you the answers. Private fertility do amh blood test but NHS do not do this, as the amh blood test shows how many folicles you have.

Wish you all the best :) x

I’ve always got pregnant straight away on clear blue digital. Never with just regular trying. The ones with a smiley face will tell you when you’re about to ovulate so as soon as you see the smiley you dtd as much as possible and the day after just to be sure

I used some of the cheap sticks for a while, some clear blue, used the Clue app too. The app was fine but I had multiple mc in 12 months so it wasn't too accurate in the end. Thing that worked for me was I actually tracked my cm and took a hunch (according to app it was far too early in cycle to ovulate so had I gone by that I would have waited and missed it) and it worked and stuck and we are a way along a pg now.
I was on injection for many years, and other birth control for total of 12 years. Took us about 6 months to conceive first last year but then all cycles went wonky with mc's.
Ovulation occurs within 12-24 hours of a 'peak' on an ov stick so you need to have already had sex with sperm waiting around for a day or so or be having sex imminently when you see any sign of ov.

Good luck with all the baby making.... worse things to be doing to keep warm of N evening Wink
