I had my third early miscarriage in mid-late August. Had two blood tests, one with very low hcg (

I am so so anxious

OP - any chance you could go private? I booked a private consultation after two recurrent miscarriages and had everything under the sun prescribed - progesterone, clexane, high dose folic acid, aspirin and steroids. I don't know if it was the medication or whether I'd have been ok anyway, but I'm now almost 20 weeks' pregnant.

I had an online consultation with Nova Fertility. The consultant and medication came to about £1300 in total.

Very much hope everything works out with your pregnancy.

AwkwardPaws27 · 29/09/2021 21:35

@DappledOliveGroves did you start the medication before conceiving or when you were already pregnant?
It's not really something I had considered as the EPAU said the vast majority of miscarriages were caused by chromosomal issues, but I'll speak to DH about it.

I started from the time of getting a positive pregnancy test. How old are you OP if you don't mind my asking? Yes, a lot of miscarriages can be caused by chromosomal issues but I'd be pushing for tests if you've had three in a row. Don't get fobbed off.

AwkwardPaws27 · 29/09/2021 22:13
  1. I've been referred to the local NHS recurrent miscarriage service but apparently the average waiting time is 45 weeks.

I did a Clearblue weeks indicator test this morning (first thing) which said 2-3. I was hoping for 3+ but considering i got the first positive test on 24/09 I guess it is possible I'm less than 5 weeks (

Please don't let the weeks indicator freak you out. If you google you'll see just how unreliable they are. My friend for example was still getting 2-3 at 11 weeks pregnant and has since had her baby.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 30/09/2021 20:59

If you read the actual instructions on it, you will see if it says it's from date of conception
Whereas midwife will take it from your last period so you add 2 weeks on.

I understand that it is from date if conception. I thought I might be more than 5 weeks (ie more than 3 weeks since conception) hence hoping for 3+

You being worried and anxious isn't going to help here. You need to be calm and relaxed and take it as it comes.
You are pregnant! Congratulations!

You'd just had a miscarriage, you're body needs to get back to a state of readiness and then you need to ovulate, so if you had a miscarriage late August I'd say the clear blue indicator showing 2-3 is likely and also, it could only be 1 day before it would become 3+ if you see what I mean?

Focus on the good things at the moment. Worrying about what-ifs will not change anything at all.

Have you started taking pregnancy vitamins?

AwkwardPaws27 · 01/10/2021 10:18

Yes I'm taking the pregnacare plus ones with the additional omega capsules.
I am very anxious - I am trying really hard not to be but I've felt nothing but apprehensive this time around. I don't dare get excited or attached to this pregnancy.
Last time I was convinced it would be different, third time lucky, & instead I ended up having multiple internal scans as they thought it might be ectopic & miscarried anyway.

Just try and be as healthy as you can. Try and make plans to keep you busy x

AwkwardPaws27 · 01/10/2021 11:33

Drs told me to call the EPAU; I have a scan booked with them on Saturday 9th October (they agreed to scan due to having three previous losses). I really hope I get to see a viable pregnancy this time.
I need to study this weekend as I have a workrelated exam on Monday so I should be busy, just finding it very hard to focus!

OP posts:
AwkwardPaws27 · 03/10/2021 21:27

I've had mild lower back ache this afternoon - no bleeding so I'm probably just overthinking every minor thing!
I just need to focus on getting to Saturday & the early scan, & try not to worry about things I cannot change.
I have a work-related exam tomorrow so need to study rather than stressing!

Lou98 · 03/10/2021 21:53

@AwkwardPaws27 don't worry about the back pain, I had bad back pain and cramps a lot during the first couple months of my pregnancy, even from early on. My baby was absolutely fine.

Try keep yourself busy until your scan and fingers crossed everything goes to plan!🤞

AwkwardPaws27 · 03/10/2021 22:08

Thank you Lou98 that is reassuring.
I'm really tired and scared of overdoing it, so not doing much apart from work (from home) & walking our dog. I do need to find a Netflix series or something to keep myself occupied!

Thinking of you @AwkwardPaws27 and wishing you all the very best - agree with PP, focus on the 'now', you are pregnant, hooray! And focus on looking after yourself and staying healthy :)

AwkwardPaws27 · 04/10/2021 08:27

I know I said I'd step away from the tests... well I cracked this morning, but I got a nice strong line on a cheapie & a 3+ on Clearblue!

I know its only testing hcg but it's a bit reassuring that the levels still seem to be rising rather than falling.

PairOfPears · 04/10/2021 12:49

That all looks super promising!

AwkwardPaws27 · 09/10/2021 11:52

Early scan today - 6w1d and there is a heartbeat. Very happy as we've never seen one before.
Unfortunately DH wasn't allowed in due to social distancing, but I have been prescribed progesterone and aspirin.
I have another scan in 2 weeks time.

Congratulations OP! I've just started TTC again after a miscarriage and this brings me hope too. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy

SecretDoor · 09/10/2021 13:32

Congratulations

squee123 · 09/10/2021 15:17

Great news! I was thinking of you earlier and hoping it had all gone well. Are you feeling more positive? I hope so x
