No such thing as pregnancy symptoms until you are 9dpo?

Last month I was reading into every little twinge and noting them all down.

However this week I read that until implantation (usually 9dpo), there’s actually no way you can have pregnancy symptoms. And that any ‘symptoms’ you do have are caused by normal hormonal changes due to ovulation having passed and your body preparing for menstruation.

Has anyone else read this? It does seem to make sense…

I've never read that but always assumed it as you arent pregnant until the egg implants so you wouldnt have symptoms. Some people don't implant until 12dpo either so wouldnt have symptoms for 1 or 2 days before AF is due.

In that case I wonder why there is so much energy put into symptom spotting from ovulation?! This knowledge has really changed how I’m feeling in this TWW. I’m feeling much more relaxed about it and am just going to wait for my period to come!

Yeah I think that’s right. It’s possible to implant as early as 6dpo, which is why some people can get positive pregnancy tests at around 8dpo.
But people who say they felt sick the day after conception are wrong to think that’s anything to do with pregnancy.

I have no idea. I often read the threads and think people are causing themselves to have the symptoms by stressing about it. Implantation happens between 6dpo and 12dpo and the average is 9. Once the eggs implanted the hcg hormone is released but it starts minimal and doubled everyday. If you were a 12dpo implanter you might not have enough hcg in you for a pregnancy test to pick up the day of your missed period anyway!

I've been trying not to stress in the tww, especially as I'm very similar to my mum in build, cycle etc. And with 2 of her 3 pregnancies her first symptom was a slight metallic taste in her mouth the day she was due her period. Then the other symptoms started a week later. Makes me think shes a late implanter and I might be too (probably not how it works but helps me stress less).
