Hi mummies.

I'm 35c TTC for 6 months, conceived 1st month, unfortunately ended in MC @ 5 weeks. Implantation bleeding last month but no joy. Very late ovulation this month. Bloods back today which show under active thyroid- hugely elevated prolactin levels. Gained a lot of weight recently, low mood/libido and so many of the other symptoms but TTC is stressful as we well know so put it down to that!! Anyone had similar diagnosis? Be good to know more about medication / successful pregnancies etc. TIA. xx

Mine was diagnosed after some IVF miscarriages.

Once you’re medicated you should feel better and you’re more likely to have a healthy pregnancy.

In my miracle natural pregnancy I saw a consultant endo every four weeks to check my levels. I pushed for this and the GP referred me.

Don’t be complacent. Get your TSH below 2.5 and many people feel better with it under 1. I quit gluten completely, and still not sure if it makes a difference but it makes it harder to eat junk Blush

@LividLaVidaLoca thank you!!! That's really reassuring!! Just hope they don't take the 'wait and see' approach 😩 I just wanna get on the meds and get this under control!! x

Hey @mummysept22 - did you get on ok? I've had 2 MCs this year (1 chemical and 1 at 8w) and diagnosed hypothyroid after most recent one. Been on thyroxine for 3 weeks now. Searching the internet for some good news stories 😊

purplegal · 13/12/2022 21:52

@Laro2323 I'm so sorry you have gone through that, it is absolutely heartbreaking. But I promise there is light at the end of the tunnel.... I am sat here with my perfect, gorgeous 3 month baby boy 🥰 I took a few months to get it all under control, then we conceived on our first month! Take your meds, in the morning before any food. I didn't think this would make much difference but it really does!! Also check out the Auto Immune Protocol diet. Very best of luck and please give me a shout if you need any further advice xx

@purplegal @mummysept22 just the loveliest news - hugest congratulations! So lovely to read this. Can I ask how long it took to get your levels under control? I was TSH 4.99 and T4 9.5, started on 50mg levothyroxine. Being re checked in Jan and will have antibodies done then too. Just so worried it's not this that's caused the MCs but trying to keep the hope. X

@Laro2323 thank you, it is the best thing. My TSH was over 12 I think. I take 100 mg. Think it normalised in a month or two. As a previous poster said on here 'normal' is below 2.5 but optimum is below 1. I saw a functional medical practitioner as they will look at you as an individual rather than their 'one size fits all' charts. You can get a private blood test to test for Free T3 which is an important biomarker your GP will probably not look for. You can also get your antibodies done then too to confirm it is autoimmune driven - I.e Hashimoto's, the most common cause of hypothyroidism. This is where the diet can really make a huge difference. Gluten, dairy, sugar etc. I conceived a few weeks into this protocol so added back in eggs and dairy to support my pregnancy. I really need to get back on it really as it will probably help with tiredness and most likely milk supply! Please let me know how you get on! I honestly thought it was over for me, so please don't give up x
