PCOS Clomid Metformin

Hello,

I thought I would make my first contribution here after lurking for long enough.

Starting with a quick summary:
28, TTC (just 3 months now), long history of irregular periods, recently confirmed PCOS, no symptoms other than missing periods - healthy weight and no excess hair.

Private consultant has recommended 3 months clomid along with metformin. I have SO MANY questions.

Most prominently: has anyone been prescribed this combination and what was your experience?

Additionally; we’re you scanned while using clomid? I know on NHS scans are not offered monthly but my consultant has advised monthly scanning (£££££!!!!!?) - can I do ONE scan in the first month and then rely on blood tests?

Metformin question: being a healthy weight - am I going to lose any weight? I wouldn’t mind to be honest as I am edging closer to chubby with every year that goes by in my 20s.

I have also bought MYO-Inositol tablets as I have read great things so any feedback on those in terms of regulating periods would be amazing.

I am going to call my GP tomorrow hopefully to begin this treatment plan although I’m aware he may protest to private consultant report. Will report back when I have heard from him.

One more thing I would love some feedback on:
I haven’t had a period in 3 months now and need one to commence clomid. I have had a tiny bit of spotting the last few days and expect my period to start properly tomorrow or Tuesday. Would you consider spotting to be the first day of your period? If not, should I take the recommended progesterone to induce a new cycle? Should I begin the clomid this new cycle or wait for one month on Metformin and the Myo-inositol.

As you can probably tell from this extensive post, my head is ALL OVER the place at the moment. I really was blindsided by the PCOS. For some reason, I believed the consultant was going to tell me I was totally fine and here is a tablet to regulate your periods: see you in 12 weeks for your first baby ultrasound.

I should have mentioned the PCOS was confirmed with scan which uncovered a pair of Dalmatians where ovaries should be
