Tube unblocked during HyFoSy

Hi ladies,

I had a HyFoSy yesterday (the same as HyCoSy but with foam) and it was pretty painful to say the least...

Afterwards, I was told that the liquid was slow to move through my left tube but they managed to flush it out. My right tube was fine.

Do you think it's safe to assume that the reason behind our infertility is my blocked tube(s)? The only way I can interpret what was said was that there must have been a blockage of sorts and now there isn't.

Any thoughts or stories??

No story here, but didn't want to leave without sending you my best wishes and hugs! Are you feeling better now after the procedure?

I don’t think it’s really safe to assume anything when it comes to TTC, it’s a minefield. Did you not ask for clarification yesterday?

Thank you 💕 yes, luckily I felt better as soon as the catheter was removed from my cervix.

I'm just hoping this is it and that my tubes were all that was stopping us from getting pregnant. I really want to avoid the dreaded unexplained infertility diagnosis. They've told us to try for another 3 months before being referred for IVF.

Hopefully your journey has been much easier than mine!

@Hopefulhedgehog sorry cross posted! Yes, I had a follow up chat with the nurse and she confirmed that my left tube was blocked but they were able to eventually get spillage out the other end.

I guess it's wishful thinking on my part hoping that maybe this is the reason for all our TTC woes. I just can't think of what else could be wrong with me. DH did have low sperm count but he's improved that significantly so now it must be a me issue stopping us 🤷‍♀️ let see how the next few cycles go 😣

Well whether it was ‘the’ problem or not it certainly sounds positive that they may have unblocked it. Best of luck x

I had a private HyFoSy in March (always thought I had a pretty high pain threshold but totally with you on the pain!) as we'd been TTC for 2 years and all tests were coming back clear, so this was a last resort before our referral. They didn't find any blockage doing mine, which I actually cried about as I was hoping it was going to be the answer, but the consultant suggested we have a cycle off and then try for another 3 as apparently the procedure itself, whether there is a blockage or not, can be helpful. One month off, two cycles later and now I'm 17+3. Sending you lots of baby dust Grin

I conceived two months after having the procedure. It could be a coincidence, of course, but after 18 months of trying maybe it did help. The consultant said that if often does if there's no other underlying fertility issues. I'm just one case though so I wouldn't put too much weight on it.

@Gemster19 haha my reaction was the same! I actually tearfully said I was hoping for bad news 😂 but I suppose a blocked and then unblocked tube is as worse as I'm going to get it. So glad to hear it worked out for you! I'm really hoping that'll be the case for me too!! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm sure the pain of the HyFoSy was worth it 😊

@thinkningaboutit happy to hear another success story! Congrats on finally getting your BFP!

I'll be sure to update if I have any good news. AF due this week so after she goes, DH and I will give it a good go 💪
