BFP clear blue digital... BFN all other tests!

Hey everyone, sorry for the long post but I'm hoping I can get some reassurance on this as I am going CRAZY googling and not knowing what's actually going on.

Here's the back story... I have never ever missed a period since the age of 11, I've always been reliably accurate with AF. This is our first month TTC and suspiciously I'm now 7 days late - no sign of AF.

I came off BC in Jan this year and had some scans done on my uterus and ovaries in April which didn't show anything to worry about. I specifically asked my GP when I got the results back if she thinks there would be any issues with TTC, to which she said she's quite confident that I wouldn't have any problems TTC given my scan results and my age (26) - which was pleasing to hear.

Fast forward to now - 7 days late and our 1st month TTC - and I have had creamy white CM, nausea, tender & heavy breasts, butterflies-type feeling and very mild cramping in lower abdomen, and mood swings.

I've done multiple HPTs from different brands (one step, lloyds pharmacy, FRER & clear blue digital) all bar ONE were negative. The "accurate reading" clear blue digital test was positive - no mistaking it either as it had the word "pregnant" rather than the lines - I took this one 5 days after my period was supposed to start. I have since taken 3 more, which have been negative.

The Internet is suggesting either a false positive (although everything I've read says this is incredibly rare) or something called the "hook effect"??

I "feel" pregnant and I'm convinced that I am but the negative tests are throwing me off!

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? If so, what has your outcome been and how did you cope with the anxiety of not knowing for sure!?

TIA xx

Do you know when you ovulated? And do you have pictures of the other tests? False positives are very rare but do happen. You could ask your GP for a blood test.

ConfusedTTC1 · 16/09/2021 21:21

@saywhatwhatnow thank you for your reply! I'm not certain, but I track my periods religiously and I normally have a 28-29 day cycle. So I would have ovulated around 25th-27th August (if I was a text book cycle). I didn't do any ovulation tests, which is annoying in hindsight!

I'm not sure how to upload photos on here, but the other tests are definitely negative.

I tried to call my GP, but its near impossible to get through to them. So, I filled out an online enquiry form and the GP just redirected me to my local antenatal care team and I'm now waiting for them to contact me back. It's all very confusing and uncertain at the moment Confused

As frustrating as it is, I think its gonna have to be a "wait and see" game Sad

This does sound frustrating. Have you tried a first response test? I always find these pretty reliable

ConfusedTTC1 · 16/09/2021 21:44

@PurplePizzaCake Hey, it's very frustrating! And I did do 2 First Response tests after getting a positive test with the clear blue digital, both First Response tests were negative Sad

UPDATE:

AF showed up on CD 37 Sad

Turns out clear blue digital was a false positive. Absolutely gutted and confused still that I got a positive result and at how late my period was.

I started bleeding in the early hours, so went to urgent care clinic this morning and they said the pregnancy test was negative so I was never pregnant in the first place. Sad

So sorry to hear. Maybe it was a chemical pregnancy? So the first test could have been right but unfortunately the pregnancy didn't progress as planned

ConfusedTTC1 · 18/09/2021 15:12

Hey @Fabianaa this could be the case - either outcome is unfortunate. We won't give up! X
