We've been 'trying' now for a couple of months whilst trying to stay relaxed about it all and taking an "it'll happen when it happens" approach.

Now we've had a couple of bfn's, I'm starting to stress even though it's normal!

Do you find that OPK's are useful in trying to conceive? I know that I'm already obsessing over whether I will be pregnant after the 2ww. Will this just add more stress? Or do you find them useful and comforting knowing that you're actually ovulating?

Looking online, they're super expensive so I don't know whether to stick to trying to take a relaxed approach for a few more months and seeHmm

I use them! ☺️ although which ones are you looking at? Mine are Femometer and pretty cheap

Lil5106 · 15/09/2021 20:14

@xoJellybean ooh thank you! I hadn't seen those. £8.50 for 50 strips on Amazon is so much better than the ones I saw in the supermarket Grin

I have PCOS so I use them to know when I'm ovulating so I don't miss my chance.

If I had regular cycles I would use them to check I did ovulate, if you know you ovulate and have regular sex then you can do without them.

I used cheap ones from Amazon. They are called easy@home. I got 50 strips for about £15 but you can get smaller batches to make it cheaper.

If you don't want to pay, then you could take your temp every morning which should tell you if and when ovulation has occurred.

@czycoup my cycles are pretty regular, only ever a day or so late so I'm thinking using them for even one month would maybe put my mind at rest that I was at least ovulating at some point in the cycle.

But it's that fine line between putting my mind at rest and then me obsessing over timings and increasing stress which won't help our chances Confused

I don't mind paying for them, but I sort of wanted to see people opinions on how effective they've been before jumping in

I know what you mean about the obsession.

Could you give yourself a couple more months to see if it happens then say if you don't get your BFP by X date then you will use OPKs?

Depends if you are the sort of person to get obsessed over these things (says the person who does an OPK every time she goes to the loo🤣)

Lil5106 · 15/09/2021 20:43

@czycoup oh god I am definitely that kinda girl!! Haha I think that's a good idea - leave it till Christmas and then if I don't have a nice BFP as a Christmas gift then I can start using OPKs.

Thank you!!

I used them and found them very helpful. I used Poundland ones (5 for £1) they are as good as pant other. Save money for other stuff

@AnnaSW1 thanks Anna! They're all probably like most items made in the same place from the same materials as high end brand but just packaged differently!
