It took two years to conceive my first child, who is now 4 years old. We have been trying since the birth and 4 years later, two miscarriages later and still no luck.

I think the root of the cause is that my periods are extremely irregular. It's been 3 months now since I had a perid. I'm 26 yo- no health issues- no medication- rarely drink alcohol or smoke.

I've had irregular periods since I was about 21 but nothing was ever said or done about it. Sometimes I could go 3-6 months with no period and then randomly just have one and then go another few months with no one. Sometimes they're regular for around 3 months and then just suddenly stops again.

I have now had investigations done- I had bloods done at the doctors which showed I had low progesterone levels. I was then sent to a gynaecologist who has wanted me to do the whole passing urine in bottles and freezing it- however I've still not had any period arrive to do this- she stated it would start on first day of my next period and that was 3 months ago.

Do I have PCOS?

Anyone else have any similar situations and what can they do for me? I feel silly because my body doesn't do what most woman's do.

Very touchy subject and don't feel it is spoken about enough and it is a very lonely situation when most around you don't experience it and can't relate.

It sounds a bit like it could be PCOS. Have they tested your blood for LH and FSH? Done an ultrasound to check your ovaries?

Freezing urine in bottles sounds a bit bananas - I've never heard of it!

The progesterone would just have been to check if you've ovulated, which you clearly hadn't - but it's not much of a check at this stage.

What you need is to go back and demand they refer you to an ultrasound and for the right blood tests. You're entitled to preliminary fertility investigations even after having had a DC, so don't let them fob you off.

I'm afraid GPs are often rather useless when it comes to these things so you're going to have to advocate for yourself.
