Morning all. Huge shock. Reason for testing will sound like I'm off my rocker, had a dream the other night involving bfp. Bought a test that day and bfn. Been in the back of my mind since and used the other test in the pack yesterday at lunchtime not really expecting this result. Followed up with the cb yesterday evening. It's only 26 days since my last period and wasn't actively ttc so no idea how many days dpo. It's my first and now I'm stressing about my age and what can go wrong. Off for a pre planned day out today hoping it will help me chill a bit. Don't know what I'm asking for really, just some words of wisdom or success stories from women who have had successful pregnancies at this age.

Congratulations, how exciting. Yes I have a fair few friends who have had babies over 42- only 2 were first time mums and all of them have had straightforward pregnancies. Obviously some things can go wrong but the majority don’t. Good luck!

Hi I fell pregnant at 43. Now have a gorgeous 5 year old girl 😊 The first few months were nerve wracking as I’d had a miscarriage a couple of years earlier. I don’t think I ever completely relaxed but well worth it , completed our family and made life full of fun 😊xxx

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight and @stressease thank you for your replies! That's so heartening to hear. Its all a bit of a whirlwind at the moment which I guess it is for everyone! Trying to go with the thought that I'll do everything I can to ensure a successful pregnancy and what will be will be.

Not at 43 but at 41, delivered at 42. He's 7 years old now and just amazing, if I may say so!
Easy pregnancy, smooth as glass delivery (except for the part where I kept trumpeting farts into the midwife's face as she stitched me... sweet! That's probably for another thread Grin ).
But my little boy was such an easy baby, though he didn't sleep for the first 3 years (which was a bit hell on wheels). But he was and IS the nicest, nicest, nicest, most loving person I know, so you know what? I'd lose sleep for him all over again. He's worth it! Smile

Congratulations OP! Flowers

Oooh congratulations op!
43 is not old nowadays and there’s every chance you’ll have a perfectly straightforward pregnancy. Our neighbour had her third baby last year at the age of 48 - she thought she was in menopause!

Start taking your Folic Acid!

Wishing you lots of luck xx

How exciting! Congratulations.
I was 41 when I had dd1 and 44 when I had dd2. No complications in pregnancy, I just had to take aspirin due to age.
Both girls are absolutely perfect and I love being a mum.
Dd1 started school this year and I was worried about being old at the school gates, but it's not an issue at all.

Congratulations! I think now more and more people are actually having their first children at around that age and late 30's.

I'm 29 and had DS at 26 but find most of DS's age have older mums. That's not meant to sound rude in the slightest.

Start taking folic acid and wishing you all the best!
