Hello,

Just wondering does anyone use pregnacare vitamins? If so, have they had any impact on your cycles or ovulation?

I've been taking for a couple of months now and my cycle was a bit longer last month (but theya re long anyway) and I don't think I ovulated this month (but I don't always ovulate anyway I am currently undergoing tests).

Just curious to hear about other peoples experiences?

The general gist is… Avoid! Lots of threads on here about how they have affected/lengthened cycles. There is a huge disclaimer on the box! Personally I can’t believe they’re allowed to sell something that can impact cycles so much!

I switched to Asda Pregnancy vitamins and they’ve been fine.

Goofers · 01/09/2021 11:58

Just make sure any multivitamin you take doesn’t have vitamin A in.

Oh no really? I feel like such an idiot taking them, my OH also takes the wellman ones, we get the his and hers.

I'll have to stop taking them, wonder how long it takes to get them out of my system.

Hello

I bought these tablets at the end of my last cycle and took 4 then stopped. I am now on CD39 of a regular 31 day cycle. i also dont think i ovulated!

ughh!

Ronnii · 01/09/2021 16:09

I used super market brand for ages, I had really long cycles and PCOS.

I switched to pregnacare and they worked for me. Shorted my cycle (from 60 to 28 then 35) and pregnant on third cycle, it was also my first cycle on clomid so who knows.

The reason I switched was because it had inositol in I think? Which is what my research was telling me the next thing to try.

I know it most ppl won't recommend, but for me having long cycles to start with and no ovulation, it think it helped a bit.

wannabeamummysobad · 01/09/2021 16:42

@JScarlett I am taking the vitamins. Per the instructions started taking them In April 3 months before I wanted to TTC.

There were minor changes in my cycle the first 2/3months- my cycle went from 25 days to 27 then back to 25 days by June.

In July started TTC (4 months of using the before conception purple pack) and that same month got by BFP. I'm 6 weeks pregnant.

Obviously everyone experiences something different. I could be a fertile mertle that was always going to conceive, we might have just been lucky our first cycle but I have nothing but positives to say about the tablets.

Good luck either way

Hi OP, I’ve been taking them since October last year without problems - initially the preconception ones, now the pregnancy ones. Got pregnant first month trying in Feb, then had an early MC, pregnant again in May and am now at 18 weeks. Definitely felt they helped me get into all round good health pre baby (alongside decent diet). I like the fact they’re all in one and I don’t have to faff about with individual bottles or think about what I might be lacking from my diet from one day to the next. Also I was veggie for a while pre pregnancy and in early pregnancy, but my iron levels for blood taken at my 10 week booking appointment were “wonderful” (the MW’s words though I’m obviously very proud.. haha).

My cycle was normally 28-29 days and I ovulated around day 13-14 (based on OPKs) and I didn’t see that change while on Pregnacare. I maybe had one cycle that was 30 days at some point but that’s a pretty normal variation! The important point I guess is that I don’t think they affected ovulation and, if anything, maybe made the luteal phase a teensy bit longer. Not necessarily the worst thing for some women with short luteal phases worried about implantation either.

I definitely wouldn’t stop taking them just out of worry about them changing your cycle.

And obviously everyone’s experience is different - I’m sure they have made some women’s cycles different or they wouldn’t have that note on the box, but I would see how you respond to them (if at all) first.

And remember it’s totally normal to have annovulatory cycles from time to time - even as many as two a year I think I read once. I highly doubt a vitamin can be powerful enough to interfere with that biological process - I’m not even sure how that would be possible!

I switched to them in December, stopped using contraception in January, conceived the first week we started trying. I'm 39 and due in October

Riverskye · 01/09/2021 17:20

Hi OP, I took them in July-Sept 2020 and had regularish cycles and definitely ovulated. I ended up swapping to cheaper ones and my cycles have been 70-100 days since I started cheap ones. Doctor does think I have PCOS so I'm waiting for my referral on for that and started taking Pregnacare again this cycle to see if it makes a difference as I've only ever ovulated whilst taking them Smile

JScarlett · 06/09/2021 09:28

Hi everyone, I'm sorry for my late reply I stepped away for a bit but I want to say thank you so much for all your responses. They were so helpful to me.

I've decided to keep taking the pregnacare, I think I've ovulated this month (if I've read OPKs and charted properly) so feeling like these can't be doing me too much harm. I did buy some alternatives but decided to stick with pregnacare for now.

My OH has stop taking the Wellman ones as hes had a SA and all came back fine - so if its not broke, why fix it right?

To respond to some of you a bit more directly:

@Farmer98755 Sorry to hear you don't think you are ovulating. Do you do OPKs and BBT charting?

@Ronnii As I said above, I think I must be seeing some benefit to them so I will keep taking, but my cycles still seem really long. :/ its really frustrating having the longer cycles isn't it? I've never heard of inositol actually so I will have a google! Smile Great news to hear these worked for you!

@wannabeamummysobad Congratulations on your pregnancy! Flowers Smile

@Lowkeyloopy Congratulations on your pregnancy! Flowers Smile Thank you for your advice, it was definitely reassuring to me. I think I maybe just worry about doing more harm than good you know? I am going to follow your advice and see how I continue to get along with them.

@Magenta82 Congratulations on your pregnancy! Flowers Smile

@Riverskye I hope your referral comes though soon. It's interesting that you saw a difference when you made the switch to the cheaper ones... I suppose only time will tell if the Pregnacare ones are actually what are making ovulation possible for people like you and me.

@JScarlett i have tracked every month and been fine, it was just this month i took the pregnacare i am now 2 weeks late and seemed to have skipped ovulation going on symptoms. ( only month i didnt track ovulation-typical!). hope everything works out for you :)

Amz6219 · 06/09/2021 11:49

I took them (as did my DH) and caught first month - did ovulate later than expected (day 21) and they made my wee very yellow but I would say they were a success!

JScarlett · 07/09/2021 07:50

@Farmer98755 Aww typical that it was the only month you didn't track, it's always the case! But you may have ovulated still perhaps only later? Have you done a pregnancy test since your late? Hope everything works out for you too Flowers Smile

@Amz6219 My wee is very yellow too, so at least I know thats normal haha! Congratulations Flowers Smile
