AF after CP advice

I'm looking for some advice. I think I've just had a CP. I'm 5 days late, had a few faint BFP's and then yesterday started to bleed. It's not particularly heavy (a pantyliner has been adequate) but I'm satisfied it's not IB.

My question is, is this now cycle day 1? I guess it must be but I was expecting to get a much heavier flow.

Sorry for your loss. If it's red blood you're now on cd1.

I'm so sorry @KCat82. You will have to take tests again to see if they get negative. If they're still positive you might experience some kind of bleeding that isn't related to a chemical - if so, I'd go see a GP or OB/GYN to see what's going on. Some women just have bleedings during their pregnancy.
If it's really a chemical, then yes you can use today as CD1.

So sorry to hear this @KCat82

Yes the first day you see blood is generally CD1. As others say, keep testing until you get a BFN. If tests get stronger I'd contact your GP or EPU, just for a check up.

Thanks to all of you. You're really kind and helpful. I'll do another test tomorrow to be sure. Talking to my OH last night, we've only really just started trying and I suffer from PCOS so I was worried that we'd have no chance (I'm also 39). May sound silly, but we're drawing the positive from the experience that something must've happened in order to have the CP! Good luck and love to all of you if you're TTC! Xx

@KCat82 my first month TTC ended in a chemical. And actually it is a good thing if you can look at it that way. My OB/GYN said the same; a chemical is nothing to worry about, it happens so much without anyone noticing (if you don't test early you might not even know what happened). And it's a good sign that "it works". Even though it's not entirely clear why it happens, it's most probably because it wouldn't have been viable or had chromosome abnormalities so it's nature's way to make sure to give a more suitable egg a go.

@Bundaberg84 Sorry to hear that, but thank you. That is exactly how I look at it. I’m not so sure I would if it were a common occurrence but as it’s early days for me (TTC that is), to know that something is working at least.

@KCat82 it will work out eventually. Just know that the chances of having a successful pregnancy in the near future are higher than it to not happen xx

@KCat82 I had a cp in July and I totally get how you must be feeling.
We have also said the same as you at least we know we can get pregnant.

I didn't have a pleasant experience when I started bleeding as the early pregnancy clinic asked if I'd passed any big clots and I'd passed 2 massive ones. Her advice then was "do another test in a week and if it's negative then you've lost it"
I was in that much shock I didn't know what else to say other than 'ok thank you'. My other half was furious but there was nothing that could be done to make it any better.

I actually ovulate straight after AF (last week) and I'm patiently waiting for the 2ww to pass so I can test again.
Best of luck to you on the journey of ttc 💫💜
