Ovulation, late period, negative test

Im now on day 32 of what is normally a very regular 30 day cycle. I’m pretty sure I ovulated on day 15 as normal (positive OPKs plus temp rise), but I’m still getting negative pregnancy tests.

So I’m assuming either:

  1. I ovulated but my period is late anyway, can this happen? I thought the luteal phase was pretty fixed?
  2. I didn’t ovulate despite the LH surge and temp rise - is this likely?
  3. I actually am pregnant but tests aren’t picking it up - this seems very unlikely given I’m now 17dpo.

Anyone know which scenario is most likely, I’m guessing either 1 or 2?

@Knittingupastorm hello , I'm having some slight similar issues to you, although I don't completely track ovulation. My AF was due Saturday , had PMS symptoms last week but most have gone now , except sore boobs , and I've had a tiny amount of spotting although all pregnancy tests are negative.

Have you have the covid jab recently? I posted on a different thread, and people are saying it can have a big impact of AF not arriving on time etc

I had my second one mid July and got my period on time a couple of days later. The first jab I got just after my period started and I didn’t notice any effects on my cycles afterwards so I don’t think it’s related.

@Knittingupastorm yeah the luteal phase is +/- the same each cycle. The jab shoud have delayed your ovulation if anything, should affect the luteal phase (at least I've never heard that and doesn't make much sense).
Could be that you had a lh surge but no egg was released.
Or of course you could be pregnant. Did you try a FRER? I mean technically it's possible that you actually ovulated a day later than you thought, and implantation can happen as late as 14dpo, so you'd only get a positive now?

Why does it all have to be so uncertain and complicated 😂
I thought positive OPK plus temp rise was a pretty solid, reliable indicator of ovulation but if it’s possible to have that and not ovulate then I guess that’s maybe the most likely. Annoyingly, DH was away so if I ovulated more than a few days late then we definitely missed it.

Today I just used a cheap test because I figured I was so far past ovulation it wouldn’t matter, I did use FRER a couple of days ago. I’ll probably give it another couple of days and try another decent test if there’s still no sign of my period. Which is another thing, I haven’t had any pms really - normally I get very sore breasts when feeding my toddler. I only feed her first thing, and right before bed and normally in the days before my period it gets very painful. But that hasn’t happened so it doesn’t even feel like it’s on its way.

It’s so horrible feeling like you’re almost certainly not pregnant, but still having that teeny bit of irrational hope! And also feeing like if I’m not, I just want my period to come so we can get into the next cycle.

Yeah, I wish there was something like a tool that would help us look inside our bellies to figure out what's going on! Each time I think I know it all, something new happens. It's crazy!

Hi did your AF turn up? I’m in exactly the same position. I’m on day 35. I had some spotting on Wednesday until yesterday but it was sporadic and barely there. And yesterday I got an almost positive OPK so I’m so confused and scared. All hpts including frer are bfn. Going to call GP tomorrow

Sorry, yes it did. About 6 days late. Not sure what happened with it.
