Sainsbury's pregnancy test

Hello,
I wanted to prevent anyone else from going through the turmoil of using a Sainsbury's pregnancy test. I am not planning to conceive yet. I felt nauseated amongst other indicators and decided to take a test from sainsbury's (because it was the closest shop tbh). The test appeared with a thick blue line indicating negative. However, a few minutes outside of the two minute window, a faint thin blue line appeared across the thicker line. Going by the instructions in the pack, both a thick line crossing over AND/OR a thinner line indicate a positive result. I took the second test in the pack that did the same thing. I frantically searched the Internet for reviews and saw many on here. I can confirm that after using a First Response kit today that I am not pregnant. I will try and upload the sainsbury's kit results so you can see. I hope this post helps others.

When I got a positive result with a sainsburys test I was SO SURE it had to be wrong that I also went to look at the reviews, and saw all the false positive reviews.
So I bought a clear blue digital as well. Still positive. Was definitely pregnant!
I wondered if the positives could be chemical pregnancies? a pregnancy test detects levels of hCG hormone. It takes a few weeks for the hCG to rise, the levels of which hang around even after a loss, so that the initial result is a positive pregnancy test.

Same here. They are horrendous! Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole! Xx

Don't the instructions say that a line that appears after the time doesn't count? I always thought you should read them at x minutes and then throw away as anything that appears after this time isn't reliable / could be evaporation etc.

I've done two sainsburys and one boots pregnancy test and a cheapie all said positive and today I'm bleeding 3 days late I'm so upset as I've had 5 miscarriages was it a chemical or where they false positives as today's cheapie is faint hugs to all the ladies who got there hopes up x

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry Louiemay. That must have been very difficult. I hope you are doing OK.

Yes, after 2 mins any changes that take place are seen as void. However, I didn't know that at the time and saw the faint line a little later and panicked.

The false positives I got were down to evaporation lines. Something I was unaware of until I read about them on this forum. I am not yet trying to conceive so I was new to these concepts. I got my period 3 days after my false positive tests.

I have attached two photographs of my sainsbury test results that are evap lines.
