TTC with Adenomyosis

I recently had a MMC at 11 weeks and in the scans that followed was told I had adenomyosis.

They told me that it won’t effect future pregnancies and wouldn’t have had anything to do with the miscarriage. It can just sometimes cause painful periods which I don’t really have so tbh I thought nothing of it.

Last night though I read a thread from somebody who said they were unlikely to be able to conceive naturally because they had adenomyosis and IVF wouldn’t help either and it set me off a bit.

Looking further into it I found that adenomyosis could be a cause of infertility and miscarriage and now I’m a bit anxious that the miscarriage could have been something to do with me and that I might have trouble getting pregnant again.

Just looking for a bit of a handhold and to hear some success stories from people with adenomyosis?

Hi! I'm so sorry for your loss, it must be such a difficult time for you. I have had stage IV endometriosis for 8 years now and been a gynae patient for 20 years. I know I have extensive scar tissue and adhesions, kissing ovaries and they are stuck to the back of my uterus. Just been diagnosed with adenomyosis, though I believe I have it had it a long time. I have concieved 3 times. My first born, I sadly lost at 21 weeks as I went into labour. My two after are now 5 and 9 year old healthy boys. Just wanted to say that there can be rainbows after the darkness and that are bodies are capable of amazing things, even with a few obstacles thrown in the way. My gynae has no concerns with me TTC. He has given me the go ahead and is not worried about the endo or adeno. Hear if you need any support xx

Oh if that was me I'm so sorry if I've worried you, from what I've read everyone is different with adenomyosis either it is a problem or its really not. Maybe get a second opinion if you are worried.

No I didn't think you were but it definitely seems to be a problem for some and no issue at all for others.

In my case I've already lost two with one of those being a nasty partial molar, had a incredibly traumatic birth with my DD and just come out the other side of horrific post weaning anxiety, depression and panic attacks and I'm just not sure I have the emotional resilience to loose or almost loose another at birth. Weaning is a funny thing, the grief at the loss of that relationship with your child is immense but odd because they are still right there but then I breastfed her for 2 years and 4 months so perhaps that has something to do with it.

I've also had a terrible nights sleep so that could also be the problem.

Best of luck love x

@Elsie2021 hello! Just wondering if you ever managed to get pregnant? I've been diagnosed with adenymosis recently and I also had a miscarriage at 11 weeks before this. Thanks
