Help I am going crazy thinking about this

Hi
I have a bit of a story to tell so hope you don't get bored listening to it.
I started ttc towards the end of August this year however my AF just suddenly disappeared.
It is now November and no sign of it which makes it almost 4 months now since my LMP.
As you can imagine I had done loads of HPT only for them to all be a BFN.
I went through an awful emotional time of thinking that maybe I was pregnant and that somehow the tests hadn't picked it up.
Anyway I did visit my doctor and she arranged for blood tests to test my hormone levels.
I have now been informed that I have an underactive thyroid and that my FSH level is high.
My doctor thinks my FSH level is high due to the thyroid problem.
I do have some doubts about that and am wondering if I am in the menopause as my mom and sisters started theirs early between 38 and 40.
I have just turned 37 how can I be sure that the raised FSH level is due to the thyroid and not menopause could my child bearing days be over.
I have been put on Thyroxine tablets and I am to have another blood test done in six weeks to check my FSH level and thyroid again.
I am not sure what I expect to achieve by posting on here but would love to hear others opinions on this.

No experience either BUT one of my girlfriends suffers from the same problem. She's 36 now. Her ttc story: had DS five years ago without any ttc problems, MC two years ago at 7 weeks (blighted ovum), conceived DD two months after MC following a D&C...DD now 10 months old. So if thyroid is the issue, babies can still be in your future. Good Luck!

I'm not a doctor but I do know that thyroid problems can affect the levels of "womens" hormones and that when thyroid sorted all the other hormone levels go back to normal. I had a very slightly slower thyroid and this really disrupted my womens bits!
If you're not feeling happy with what your gp has said ask to be referred to a specialist and say its because of your family history etc.
I had a lot of help with complementary therapies when I was ttc. (2 mc and then stopped having periods) For me accupuncture and reflexology sorted it all out and now have dd. More recently with the thyroid thing I went to a herbalist and that worked for me.
So find out as much as you can about your situation, see a specialist and perhaps consider complementary therapies too to help boost your chances. There are some great fertility boosting herbs but these would have to be taken under guidance from herbalist and doctor especially as you're on thyroxine.
If you try all these avenues and you are going through menopause that still isn't the end because there are egg donators or surrogates etc

GOOD LUCK xxxxxx

I've got an underactive thyroid too. It's such a pain when ttc cos it really buggers up your cycle. I'm on CD60 odd now! even though on thyroxine.

I still conceived my DS who is nearly 2 1/2 now. We're TTC no.2 now. Came off pill at beginning of Aug.

As long as you're on the right dose of thyroxine then you should be fine

Good luck

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to answer me.
The thing that is bothering me as well is why this problem presented itself once I started ttc in the way of absent AF.

My AF was anything between 30 days and 40 before but I did always get it.
I just don't understand why it has happened this way.
I suppose the one good thing is that I now know I have an underactive thyroid and it can be treated.
I always suspected my energy levels were not what they should be.
At the moment I do feel it is all doom and gloom for me as at 37 I don't feel I have time to overcome this obstacle in order to concieve.
I will however consider asking to be referred to get more of an idea of where I stand now.

It seems that ttc can seriously cock up the most regular of cycle! after mc and then no periods I remember feeling really relaxed when I knew I had appt booked with specialist and I'm sure that helped all the accupuncture etc to work cos got pregnant before specialist appt.
If you're interested and able to go there's a phenomenal healer named Amma in London, Alexandra Palace 5th-7th Dec. Its free you just turn up and she gives you a hug. She has helped many women conceive including my friend who never had a period in her life due to pcos.
Check her out on amma.org she really is a special woman.
