TTC for 12 months, HELP

Hello,
Sorry if this has already been asked but I'm just after some advice. We've been TTC for 12 months. We have a DS who is nearly 3 who was conceived on our first try so naively didn't think I would have any issues ttc again, so this has really thrown me off. I've been taking OPKs and ovulate every month and make sure we BD every couple of days and everyday during ovulation window. Cycle length is roughly 34 days (a few days either side). I don't know why it's not working.. is it time to see the GP?? I would be classed as 'over weight' even though I don't really feel that I am, Im around 12 stone, size 12/14. I just feel like going to go the GP and they're just going to say it's due to my weight but Im not much heavier then when I was when I conceived my DS..I eat balanced and exercise regularly, have an active job etc, I don't feel that I'm 'unhealthy' but maybe it is that, I'm just really not sure and feeling frustrated!
I had an emergency c section, I don't know if that has anything to do with the issues this time or if that can effect things? I'm lost!
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Oh wow, I feel like I could have written this myself!

We're in the same boat, my little boy has just turned 3 and we have been trying for a year... we also naively thought it would happen quickly but it hasn't and I'm finding it so tough!

I've spoken to 2 different gps who say they can't refer me for any tests as I've got a child, I'm ovulating and have regular cycles - the only test they can do is a semen analysis for my husband....

It's so tough - so keeping an eye on your post for any potential top tips to falling pregnant (well if there anything we've not tried!)!

Best of luck and I really hope you fall pregnant soon - sending lots of baby dust your way!

I feel for you! So frustrating isn't it. I feel like I'm just going to get a similar response from my GP, he isn't helpful at the best of times! Also sending you lots of baby dust, hopefully we will get there soon! X

Hi

I just wanted to add my experience so far. I have a 3 year old DS, we've been trying for #2 for about a year. Went to the gp a couple of months ago as my cycles have got pretty short compared to previously, (used to be 25-27 days now more like 20-23 days), I had to push her a bit but she agreed to do 21 day bloods, which came back as inconclusive as to if I ovulated or not, we repeated these and they were even lower so she's referred me to a gynaecologist although they also want me to do another set of 21 day bloods. I'm waiting to hear from gynaecologist as this is all pretty recent.

So it may be worth speaking to gp, I specifically booked my appointment with one of the Gps who has an interest in women health, so I think that helped, plus possibly the fact she's female!

Are your cycles the same as before your had your DS?

My gp did mention that because I already have a child the only tests they would do would be 21 day bloods and check OHs sperm.

I have seen other people mention on here that your can get some tests down elsewhere, e.g. I know Superdrug do 21 day bloods via a postal service, but I think there are places that do other tests too but others might be able to advise more on that.

I wouldn't worry about your weight too much, my gp didn't even ask and it was all telephone appointments. It doesn't sound like your bmi would be that high anyway.

Hey! Thank you so much for posting that's really helpful. Maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow and give it a try! I did see on a website about the bloods you can send off yourself.. please keep me updated on your journey if you can! Sending you lots of baby dust x

I've just check Superdrug do those blood tests at home so I'm definitley going to try that!

I'd never heard of that before so that's really helpful!

Thanks so much xx

I just wanted to say don't give up hope, we started trying for our second when my daughter was just over 2 in June 2019 and it took 13 months. I actually had a very early loss but fell pregnant again straight away the very next month (oldest is now 4 and baby is 3 months old!)

I used ovulation kits etc too, and didn't change anything those last 2 months so it was weird that nothing happened til then really.

Thank you for this!! Hopefully it's just one of this things that's taking a while. It's so hard to be patient though! X
