Hi All,

DH & I have just started TTC and I’ve always been worried as I have PCOS & minor endo. I had a scan in February and both ovaries were pretty polycystic which is disappointing as I had a scan a couple of years ago and only one showed signed of pcos and not that much!

I’m very lucky in that I have regular periods and been tracking my discharge and I deffo get the fertile kind and some months quite bad ovulation pain and other symptoms.

Anyone else have an opinions if this sounds a bit more positive or do most people with PCOS have these signs? I feel like from all my research a regular cycle is quite rare!

I definitely have some kind of hormonal imbalance as have other symptoms (unwanted hairs, oily skin, brain fog, weight I can’t shift around my bottom half, anxiety) I’m now trying to be low carb, exercise every day, take supplements and I have improved my diet!

Thanks xx

Regular cycle is not really that uncommon with PCOS in general and have in mind that at some point is may become irregular. I would consult an endocrinologist, because they will test for some specific things and diagnose you (or not, maybe all the symptoms you're mentioning are from something else, vitamins or something I dunno)

Hi @Amtheyest17 I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS (following a scan and some tests). I would be considered Lean PCOS as I have BMI under 25 and no other obvious symptoms other than irregular cycles. I have been TTC for over a year and tracking my cycles during that time (temping and LH strips etc. I also get fertile CM and even ovulation pains sometimes too) and I believed I was ovulating. However, my AMH levels came back at 64 pmol/L (which means I have very high egg reserves) and the consultant believes I haven't been ovulating frequently/at all within the past year! She has offered me Metformin to help my cycles become more regular and at our next appointment I think she will offer me Clomid.

@Amtheyest17 - I suffer from PCOS and had regular cycles so when we were trying to conceive in Dec 2019 I fell pregnant naturally within 4 months of trying unfortunately that ended in MMC at 10 weeks... we took a break and we were only casually ttc at the time.. seriously started again in Sep 2020 .. cycles went long ... started taking myo inositol and supplements... fell preg naturally again in late Jan .. unfortunately that ended in a chemical at 5 weeks... Consultant put me on metformin in Mar and suffered another chemical at 4 weeks the very next month in Apr/May.. Increased my dose to 1500 mg and followed strict low carb no sugar diet, I lost 5 kgs although my BMI was always normal... metformin helped to reduce my cycle length from 33/45 days to 28 in the last 2 months. Currently on cd 26 and think I am out this month as saw a big drop in bbt... it's been a struggle so far and don't know if it will ever happen for me... 😞

If u have regular cycles would encourage you to try naturally first with supplements myo inositol in particular and charting bbt might help understand whether u r ovulating. Good luck, its definitely possible to conceive naturally.

I've got PCOS and endo. My cycles were a mess, my ovaries had cysts and my periods debilitating when off the pill. I was seeing a reproductive endocrinologist who said that there was basically no chance of me conceiving naturally and that since my period were so awful, we should start with IUI ASAP. I came off the pill for 3 months, ovulated once and got pregnant. DS just turned 2.

I have a healthy BMI - I think it was 23 when I got pregnant, so lean PCOS, but with horrific periods and terrible acne. Oh and bloating so bad I'd gain and lose 10lbs in a few days.

I have PCOS and mild endo too and my periods are highly irregular. Somehow I've conceived every cycle I've tried so far - 2 chemicals, one successful pregnancy. I didn't take anything except conception vitamins. So it is possible, but I was surprised I thought it would take us much longer.
