Hi all,

So I had a HyCoSy a month or so ago and it showed both my tubes seemed blocked Sad. I’m due for my laparoscopy in 3 weeks and terrified what they will find and are or not able to do. We can’t afford IVF so this is the end of the road for us. I have been googling what could have caused my blockages as I don’t have endometriosis or PCOS or had past surgery. However, I have been reading about PID and how there can be no signs apart from infertility and I’m now driving myself crazy thinking it’s that.

Just looking for advice, reassurance and somewhere to chat. Literally all my friends have babies and it’s been so hard I have practically stopped seeing them and feel I have no one to talk to about these things anymore as they don’t understand.

Kind words (no false hope though) greatly appreciated.

Hello! I am sorry that you find yourself in this situation.
I am not in the same boat as you, so I don't have any advice to give about what would have caused your issues, but I feel your struggles and emotions.

Firstly, I would say try as much as you can to minimize the dark thoughts and the anxiety. Know that you are doing the best you can and that's all that matters in the end!

Try to face every problem when it comes, personally I really struggle with this. Waiting like this is really stressful, so I would do something to keep my mind from stressing for all the bad possible outcomes.

IVF costs are indeed high, and depending on your area it can be impossible to bare without insurance, that's why I am going to do it somewhere abroad.

Forums like this provide a great support but I would say try not to completely isolate yourself INR.

Wish you all the best, hang in there! If you want someone to chat with I here! 🖐

Hi Dayglow,

Have you had your laparoscopy now? How did it go? Bless you, I completely sympathise, we have been TTC for 18 months and are seeing lots of friends get pregnant. It can be very difficult although a couple of friends have been open that even though they fell pregnant they struggled to conceive and either had IVF or laparoscopy etc.
It's really useful to speak to people about it but beware to not compare yourself to everyone which I have done before and it causes misery.
Have you been referred to a clinic as you could be eligible for IVF on NHS?
6 years ago I had painful symptoms and diagnosed with PID which was treated with - I think - an antibiotic cream. The PID appeared to clear up but still had painful symptoms so I had a laparoscopy where they found endo which was removed. I was supposed to then take the pill in 3 month blocks to keep endo at bay which I did for a bit then stopped...
Fast forward to now and we are struggling to conceive. Have been referred to fertility clinic and was offered IVF on NHS which is great but first chose to have a laparoscopy to see what's going on down there, as the scan showed up couple of polyps, and given my history of PID as well I just want everything checked out. The waiting list for lap with clinic is a bit long so I'm having it done privately- a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. That's in a month's time.
Anyway would be great to hear how you are getting on and you are not alone xxx
