TTC After Pfizer 1st dose

I know there are plenty of threads on this already and I’ve probably read most of them but I wanted to get an up to date view on whether people are continuing to TTC between doses?

I had a MMC in February and decided to wait to be vaccinated before trying again due to the risks of Covid during pregnancy. But now I’ve had my first dose and more data comes out about the safety of the vaccine in pregnancy I feel really disappointed to hold off on TTC.

It would be good to get an idea of what other women are planning to do? I’m very torn. X

@Cloud279 the latest info is that there is no reason to delay TTC because of the vaccine. I don't think I've seen different opinions about that in this forum. When it comes to get the jab while pregnant, that's another discussion. Some say don't, some say don't do it in the first trimester... But I think that's a discussion to have between you and your ob/gyn hopefully in the future :)

@Bundaberg84 thanks for responding :)
I suppose I could have it worded differently, but my concern is if I continue to TTC now between doses and become pregnant in between I would have to decide whether to have the second dose in early pregnancy. So with that in mind would the majority of people wait until after 2nd dose to prevent having to make the decision of accepting vaccination in early pregnancy? Having miscarried already I know it could be a long road to a healthy and successful pregnancy and I finding it hard to delay based on worrying about the vaccine! X hope that makes sense!

Hi @Cloud279 I'm currently in my tww (7dpo) and am getting the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow. As the other poster mentioned there is no evidence that the vaccine affects pregnancy and I believe Pfizer is the one they've trialed with thousands of women in America and therefore have the biggest amount of known research about so is the one recommended to get whilst ttc/ pregnant, at least according to one place I read this on.

I've been debating the vaccine since first hearing about vaccines but now I've decided I'd much rather get it than not. There will never be a good time to get it (I wouldn't want to pause ttc) so now is as good as ever. Of course speak to your doctor if you've got concerns. I've heard of a few women being in early pregnancy and getting the vaccine/ not being aware they're pregnant and getting it still (I could be the same if I am successful this month!). I would hope I'm eligible to get the second dose if I am pregnant at the time too. I want to be able to go out and have a little less fear about catching covid and I want to travel to see my family who live abroad.

So it's a big yes from me, I'm excited to get it (of course there is a slight worry if it affects anything but I'll cross that bridge if I get there!).

I've had my first Pfizer vaccination and am continuing TTC. I'm going onto cycle #9 so don't really want to take any breaks! Will continue TTC after my 2nd too x

I got pregnant the month after my second Pfizer jab

Verbena87 · 08/06/2021 20:38

Slightly different but I’m doing a frozen embryo transfer cycle this month and was invited for my first dose just before starting the hormones. Spoke to the fertility clinic and their advice given my job (secondary teacher) was to definitely go for it, so I did. If treatment is successful I’ll then need to decide whether to delay until second trimester, but one step at a time!

@choccrumpet I suppose you're right in thinking cross that bridge when we come to it... I guess there are no guarantees to become pregnant within the 12 week window between doses so it might not even need to be a consideration! X

@Cloud279 exactly! Could spent a long time putting it off and not getting pregnant either. I got my first vaccine this morning and so far so good 🤗
