Hi all. Im sorry i didnt know where to go as everyone in my life has a baby, and i dont actually know anyone who didnt conceive naturally in my life. (sorry if there are lots of errors- i am rapidly typing and feel like im going to stop breathing)

Im 32 and i have no children of my own, my partner is 43 and he has children from a previous relationship. We have been trying to conceive for 2 years (due to covid, i felt like i couldnt go to the doctors re fertility until recently)
in the past i have had 7 miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy; and just have the 1 fallopian tube. I got my fertility bloods done and they came back all normal.

I have just collected my partners sperm infertility test results. Could someone please help me think clearer right now; i feel like im going to have a panic attack and i dont really understand it.

"Asthenoteratozoospermia- percentages of both progressive motility and morphologically normal spermatozoa below the lower reference limits.
Progressive- 20
Non progressive- 20%
Immotile- 59%
Normal Morphology- 0%
Abnormal Morphology- 100%
Head Defects 100%
Mid piece defects 23%
Tail defects 5%

Could someone help me understand please. I am just trying to google the resutls; but my mind is everywhere and i just cant get it together at the moment. I am really sorry; i dont know who else to ask.
Thank you so much to anyone who replies.

How did your partner do a sperm test, was it through your GP or a private fertility clinic? I'm no expert but I'm guessing 100% abnormal morphology and 100% head defects, is not a good result. It would be much better to contact the place who did the test to ask them to explain the results to you. There are things your partner can do to improve his sperm, such as cutting out smoking, caffeine, reducing alcohol and eating healthy. I'm so sorry to hear of your 7 miscarriages, that's awful, have you been referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic?

I've just been referred to the guys hospital fertility clinic? He got referred by his gp and went to a local hospital for the infertility test. Thank you for replying. I've just put a deposit down for a house but I feel like I just want to use the money to go to a private clinic or something. I just didn't imagine my life without children of my own and I'm not sure if I should start coming to terms with that.

Hi, didn’t want to read and run, pop over into the infertility boards on mumsnet, there’s an amazing army of women there who will be able to help & support you x

Ok so;

Progressive are swimmers who go straight or in large circles.

Non progressive are swimmers that move but not straight and in tight circles.

Normal Morphology is how they look.

Abnormal Morphology is they could have two tails, crooked or misshapen heads.

Head Defects, Mid piece defects and tail defects are as above really.

Immotile means they either can’t move or are abnormally shaped, or both.

I’m sorry op but this isn’t a good result.

@panicattack1

Did you have the miscarriages with him or a previous partner?

Read the book "it starts with the egg" - there's a chapter on sperm quality and what you can do to improve it. It recommends a supplement programme that should improve sperm quality within 3 months or so xx good luck

I agree with pp there is a lot that can improve sperm.
I know of a someone who literally had to cut his protein shakes out and it improved.
This isn’t the end of you trying to have a baby.
