Give me your thoughts and stories.. does withdrawal work? My friends are doing it and her periods late and she thinks she's pregnant.. could she be?

My friend has two kids using this method even after I told her it's bonkers and she's not 13 years old.

Eekaboo · 13/05/2021 09:48

Apparently it's 96% effective if done right. Precum can contain sperm tho so yes she could be

whatsuppussycat1234 · 13/05/2021 09:54

@Mishmased she's not 13 years old 😂😂😂😂😂

@Eekaboo how do you do it right though? 😂 like pull out within good time?

@whatsuppussycat1234 in her case she was a 30 year old scientist which made it all the more baffling! Two children later (13 months age gap) and she's now on the coil 😂

whatsuppussycat1234 · 13/05/2021 10:00

@Mishmased hahahaha no way! So it doesn't work 😂

@whatsuppussycat1234 not unless you don't mind getting pregnant.
Also if you're that far gone and getting your groove on, how/why would you want to stop? I know I wouldn't 🤣 Kt does require a great deal of discipline.

It's better than nothing, but isn't foolproof for two reasons.

  1. The man MUST have complete control over when he's going to ejaculate. Obviously it only takes one single sperm to fertilise an egg, so if he leaves it even slightly too late it may not be effective. You have to trust your partner completely to be able to pull out in time, and to WANT to pull out in time.

  2. Research is conflicted with regards to whether pre-cum contains sperm. I have actually researched this a lot because my DP insisted the pullout method would work (he would always wear a condom if I asked, before anyone says anything). The general consensus seems to be that any sperm in pre-cum is from a previous ejaculation, which means if the man has urinated afterwards - preferably several times to be sure - there shouldn't be any sperm there.

For me, it's still too much of a risk. It'd be okay if you weren't trying but a baby wouldn't be the end of the world - but if you're absolutely certain you don't want a baby, this method really isn't great.

No idea 😳 Plastic raincoat for us every time 😂

babyboybluex · 13/05/2021 10:53

We use the pull out method and it's been 11 months since we had our first son. No pregnancy scares (YET)!

However, we wouldn't mind falling pregnant for the second time but if you really don't want to fall pregnant then yeah it's probably not the best method x

kittylau44 · 13/05/2021 21:42

Used it for 10 years and no pregnancies 👍 if you use it right then it is very good in my opinion.

Bundaberg84 · 13/05/2021 21:55

Used it over 10 years as well and not pregnancy either :) TTC actively for two months and got pregnant. So I say it works, but also don't do it if you don't want to become parents if that makes sense.

Hopefulhedgehog · 13/05/2021 22:07

I don’t understand why anyone would use this method when there are so many contraceptive options available...bizarre

kittylau44 · 13/05/2021 22:17

Personally I hate how contraceptives (hormonal ones at least) make me feel. I know my body and know when my fertile window is. I trust my partner to pull out on time. All contraceptives have the possibility of failure 🤷🏻‍♀️

scaredsadandstuck · 13/05/2021 22:21

We used it on and off for years with no unplanned pregnancies. That said, I wouldn't use it as a contraceptive method in a casual relationship or where a pregnancy would be completely unwanted.
