Hi I was just looking for any input or stories!

I have pcos and have been ttc for over a year my doctor proscribed me progesterone to kick start my period and clomid 50mg days 5-9 I'm currently on cycle day 14

So I've been opk testing since day 7 and I feel like I'm going crazy lol I have NO idea what I'm doing when should I expect to ovulate or how will I know ? I heard opk doesn't help much when you have pcos

I have nothing to help - I'm sorry! But I'm super interested in how you get on - I'm a couple of months behind you and will be going to the doctors soon - hoping they prescribe Clomid!

Are you tracking BBT? That's suppose to be the best indicator that you've actually ovulated.

rose88xx · 12/05/2021 20:57

Are you booked in for monitoring scans? Those will be more accurate than the OPKS as PCOS can make the hormone levels fluctuate (I get regular peaks but don’t ovulate, basically don’t bother to do them anymore!).

Good luck! I’m currently on letrozole, so in the same boat Smile xx

I'm a first time catcher on clomid too! Worked well for me, however I was to take it from day 3-7 of cycle & ovulated on day 16! Good luck 🤞

ttcisnteasy · 14/05/2021 21:01

Hi sorry ladies I haven't had time to check back in yes I'm due on Monday for scans ! And I don't track bbt but I wanted to start I got my first positive on opk today so good signs ! I told my doctor that I'm ttc and I've tried everything naturally and no luck so he prescribed me clomid I hope the same for you!!!

I did 6 rounds of Clomid & progesterone and no joy. Emotionally & psychologically I found it so, so hard.

Has this been prescribed by your GP? I'm always worried about that, because you should really be monitored each month with a scan to confirm dosage is working etc. I was also told there would be a limit to how many cycles I could do because of the increased cancer risk.

If you haven't already had comprehensive tests for both you & your DP/H, I would be pushing for that first. Other factors could make Clomid ineffective (MFI, blocked tubes etc). I'd want to know the full picture before embarking on meds.

We moved on to IVF and I'm now 37 weeks.

Loops01 · 14/05/2021 21:33

I am with @Mackie2020 on this one - how did your gp prescribe it so easily? I've been told from my gp that I have no known issues (from a generic blood test and listening to me explain my cycle). They are putting me for day21 bloods but otherwise I have to wait until July (12m ttc) until they will refer me to fertility clinic via nhs. Am I missing a trick here? Are GPs able to prescribe without fertility clinic for scans etc? We've already got the seminal analysis via gp but they didn't really go much into it as was 'above average'.

ttcisnteasy · 14/05/2021 21:57

Oh idk that's concerning... I did have blood work done before being prescribed clomid but not any scans or anything like that I've been with this doctor since I was 13 so I was assuming he new everything about me pretty much but I'm definitely going to ask some questions on Monday I appreciate the advice! Also I am supposed to have an internal ultrasound Monday so maybe that's why ? Idk I'm a little freaked out now I was just so caught up in the fact that I was supper happy and things are finally happening that I didn't think to ask many questions 😩

TheDaydreamBelievers · 14/05/2021 22:04

@ttcisnteasy I assume that's what the ultrasound is for! They should check you areht over stimulated by clomid.

Have to admit I clicked on this thread jealous as no way my Dr will prescribe clomid, I'm in the same position to @Loops01 I clearly rarely ovulate but they wont refer for ages

Loops01 · 14/05/2021 22:12

Can I ask why you think or know you don't ovulate? Is it pcos or something else? @TheDaydreamBelievers

@ttcisnteasy be happy! I'm glad things are moving and your doc has given you some hope and potentially something that will help. Hope the scans go well! Let me know what they say or what to ask for when I have mine next month ☺

TheDaydreamBelievers · 14/05/2021 22:16

Zero idea @Loops01. Came off the pill March 2020 and have only identified one ovulation since. Insane long cycles between 60 and 141 days. Bloods look fine apart from progesterone showing I haven't ovulated (duh), no particular symptoms associated with PCOS, overweight but not hugely (BMI28). Do you know why it's the case for you?

Conceived the time I ovulated, but the baby died at 11weeks. Again, no explanation for that either.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 14/05/2021 22:17

Sorry, should have added I've used temping and LH strips consistently to try to identify ovulation

Loops01 · 14/05/2021 22:30

Wow you haven't half gone through it @TheDaydreamBelievers! That really is a long cycle! Will you be able to get a scan to check ovaries and reserves? I came off the pill in December 2019 but would say I had normal 28-31 cycles from Nov. I've had 1 month where I'm unsure of ovulation due to not being able to test or track and that cycle ended up being a lot longer than normal. I have heard you can have pcos without pretty much all the symptoms but god knows. It's a minefield unless someone really tells you or diagnosis you! I've no explained reason for not getting pregnant in almost a year with everything being 'normal'. Starting to hate that word. 28 bmi isn't too bad! I don't like bmi it's not really accurate! I'm 25 bmi wise but would like to lose a few pounds but really f-all makes a difference I've found so far! Clearly I'm not optimistic, lost that after 4 months 😂

TheDaydreamBelievers · 14/05/2021 22:56

@Loops01 I've been referred to gynaecology for a scan (which I assume is to check ovaries). But I know the waitlist is about 6mo (so expecting to hear from them in... october?). Thinking of going private.

Yes, to be honest between the ovulation issues, loss, and covid19 it's been a shit year.

ttcisnteasy · 15/05/2021 00:45

I second the shit year statement!! but hopefully things looks up for everyone soon ! 💕 I to have long loooooong cycles I have a period maybe 4 or 5 times a year if I'm lucky ! The medroxyprogesterone let me have a taste of "normal" 😂

OP posts:
StressyLady · 15/05/2021 11:37

@TheDaydreamBelievers 6month waiting list?! I called yesterday after being referred by my GP and I’m going on Monday for external and internal ultrasound... (can’t say I’m looking forward to it but glad they got me in so quick!) crazy how different your experiences can be depending on your GP!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 15/05/2021 11:41

@StressyLady I think it depends a lot on the local area and how overstretched their gynaecology service is

Loops01 · 15/05/2021 12:00

I have been told its anywhere from 2m to 6m wait for me! I think covid has had an effect also
