Would the fact that you hate your job make you want to have a baby sooner?

Hi,
I absolutely HATE my job, and my new manager is awful beyond words.work is going pretty bad.
I've always wanted to have a second child, but was thinking it's bad of me to try to concieve just so I can go on maternity leave!
Obviously I would like to hand my notice in but can't afford to not work. Plus with covid, im finding it impossible to find another job.
Do you think it's wrong to try to have a baby earlier than originally planned just coz of hating your job?
Thanks for reading :)

If everything at home was in order and there was no reason for delaying then not enjoying my job would probably be a factor that affects my decision.

If there were other personal factors that meant delaying TTC was the sensible option for the family then I'd not bring TTC forward due to job issues.

Actually in a similar position, we was always going to try for another end of this year but with recent events at my job and me just absolutely hating it we are trying now just so I can get away quicker 😂 and then hopefully maybe go back part time so less pressure on me. X

Yes I did. Returned from maternity leave, my department had changed, so I had a while new department, new managers and new colleagues. The managers were awful, thought I could just suck it up but they wanted me to leave, restricted my responsibilities and ultimately during my development meeting they told me it wouldn't change, so left me to make a decision. At the next meeting, they asked me if what I had decided.... I announced my pregnancy and that I would in fact be leaving Grin

I never returned after 2nd child and don't regret the choices I made Daffodil

@Landlubber2019 @Rmw99 @LolaSmiles
Thanks for your feedback. I recently had a miscarriage and got a bit paranoid. I started getting thoughts it happened because I got pregnant for the 'wrong reasons'. Was totally devastated and even more depressed I'd have to stay at work! Lol.
My work is seriously awful. It's so stressful I can't sleep. But yes, would love to go part time after baby no.2. Sounds like a plan!

Would you guys consider going on ML 11 weeks early, or would you rather go on sick leave? A bit cheeky, I know - but seriously my manager is a nasty piece of work. I've put an application in for condensing my hours (I am my dad's carer) at the end of March, and he still needs time to 'make an informed decision'. Total pric*.

I am sorry to hear of your miscarriage, sadly these things happen without any known cause. You were not to blame nor was it because your motivation for a 2nd baby was work focused.

Years ago I would have said try to stick it out, persevere and count the days til you can get ML. I am a bit older now and I don't believe the workplace often rewards this attitude, which for you will be deeply harming. I would get a sick note if necessary 😉

@Landlubber2019 yes, I totally agree. I've had 3 miscarriages in the past, and never took any sick leave. It certainly didn't make them treat me any better. So, this time I have taken sick leave.
