Hello,

I have just been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries I’m 29 and wasn’t planning children for a few years yet. But now I’m panicking it won’t happen. Does anyone here have any positive stories to share? It’s really panicked me.

You can get pregnant with PCOS it just depends how severe yours is.

If I were you I'd stop all hormonal contraception (use condoms coupled with a temperature tracked fertility method / app)

I'd then start tracking my cycles - if your cycles are regular and you have indications that you are ovulating regularly then you will be on the luckier side of conceiving.

If your cycles vary massively in legnth then you will be a lot less fertile. If you only ovulate a few times per year you have to time it so well and it could take a long time.

Without knowing your cycles or how severe your condition is, I'd advise you to seriously think about how important children are, and how many uou want.

My sister had PO with months between periods. She had 2 babies with 18 months between them. The first she didnt know she was pregnant until 5 months because lack of periods were normal for her.

Hi OP,

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 24. I remember they scanned my ovaries and were quite shocked by the number of cysts, so I thought I'd struggle.

However, I came off the pill at 30 and I was pregnant 4 months later so I didn't have any problems - there is hope!

I think as long as you are a healthy weight and active a lot of the effects can be mitigated - the doctors told me to lose 2 stone and start exercising at that scan, which I did. My cycles after that were long (34 days) but regular.

Good luck!

I went for a blood test yesterday with suspected PCOS. We've been TTC for 6 months now. What I'm learning is that everyone is different! But completely agree that if you start tracking your cycles now you'll have a much better idea on what to do when, if you do start trying :)
