I've just started acupuncture and am two sessions in. Was wondering if anyone had any experiences on it they could share, and how long its worth continuing it for?

@beckyCarlos I tried working outside but it was too hot and my laptop was overheating so I quickly gave up on that! But it is nice to think about.

Oh noo sorry I didn't mean to do that 🙈🙈 it's great that you're not spotting now, hopefully things are changing for the better! Haha I feel a bit bad for reminding you now, at least you wouldn't feel so bad using cheapies instead of more expensive ones

beckyCarlos · 16/06/2021 11:52

@choccrumpet nooo don't be sorry! Its ironic really becuase normally I'm like 'ooh maybe this spotting is implantation bleeding' 😂😂 but I agree, the acupuncture is definitely changing things for the better. Good news as well, had a vitamin D check yesterday, results are back today(!) And I'm at 87!!! Much, much, much better than the paltry 43 from March. Going to take a dedicated vit D supplement just to keep them up but woo! What good news!

I just had 5 mins outside and it is WARM here!

Just thought I'd update, two BFNs and one period from me! But, my boobs were sore for only 7 days (compared to at least 14) and I only spotted 3 or so days before (compared to from ovulation) so something is definitely balancing and I feel so much better from acupuncture so I'm going to continue weekly visits for now - husband has semen analysis on Weds so hopefully more news next week 😊

How you all getting on? X

choccrumpet · 21/06/2021 09:39

@beckyCarlos that's frustrating, but you do sound so positive and you're right there are so many positive changes happening, it should only be a matter of time now 🤗 hope the SA goes well too! And you weren't hanging around waiting for something to happen. That's amazing!

I've got my next session tomorrow so looking forward to it. Not sure how often I'll be keeping them up going forward but will see what she says. I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and so far so good. Every twinge does make me nervous so am hoping things are okay in there.

beckyCarlos · 21/06/2021 11:58

@choccrumpet let me know what they advise for acupuncture throughout pregnancy, which points and stuff, I find it fascinating!

I went into this not expecting much at all so any changes are a bonus, and after reading 'it starts with the egg' and using my acupuncturist as a therapist, it can take about 3 months for any changes to take effect so I'll reevaluate in August (and we should have all our test info then too). X

choccrumpet · 21/06/2021 12:26

@beckyCarlos that is a great plan 🤗 and it does seem to be about 3 months to make a difference so 🤞🏼 for you.

Last time I was already pregnant so she did my ankles which are kidney points I think, wrists for nausea, upper back (not sure what for) and between my eyes for better sleep / relaxing in general. She said that point between your eyebrows is to help relax so if you feel stressed out a bit of pressure there and it should help. But I'll let you know how this one goes and what she suggests 🤗 she also did moxa on my knees but I can't actually remember if that was last time or the time before.

choccrumpet · 23/06/2021 08:43

@beckyCarlos had my appointment and she put needles into my knees and wrists for a while, and then a few in an out on my back, lower, mid and upper back. So a lot simpler this time. She said it was to help strengthen everything.

In terms of continuing acupuncture she said if I feel good both mentally and physically (which I do) there is no need to continue unless I want to so I've booked an appointment in 2 weeks and said I'll take it one appointment at a time and see how I feel.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 have you been continuing with acupuncture? What's your plan with it going forward?

beckyCarlos · 23/06/2021 11:47

@choccrumpet aw that sounds good! How are you feeling generally? X

choccrumpet · 23/06/2021 12:54

@beckyCarlos mostly okay, feel good mentally, physically is a bit harder with tiredness and a few other symptoms but they're only mild so far. So although I'd like to keep up acupuncture I'm not sure I want to keep the cost of the appointments. I might approach it a bit more as hoc and go when I feel I need to.

beckyCarlos · 23/06/2021 13:41

@choccrumpet so glad you're feeling well and things are going ok! Yes its an expensive habit haha, I don't get my nails or brows or anything else done (especially not after reading it starts with the egg 😂) so I can kind of justify it for now but when the time comes I'm sure I'll go to fortnightly or monthly x

Angie887 · 08/07/2021 17:17

How's everyone doing?
I started taking some herbal Chinese medicine and tea this month alongside acupuncture and had some very positive results. I ovulated on CD15 which is nearly a week earlier than what I'm used to ovulate and had the strongest positive on opk I have ever had.
I went for my weekly acupuncture session yesterday and have some bruises on my stomach. This is the first time I got bruised. Has this ever happened to anyone?

beckyCarlos · 09/07/2021 10:42

Hey Angie 😊 glad to hear you're feeling good! I had my 6 week review last week and I've deicded to keep going weekly for another 6 weeks (that'll make 3 months total) to get the most benefit, then drop to twice a month thereafter, by which point we should have had all of our fertility tests etc. I'm still really enioying it and if nothing else its great for me to have some space to truly relax!

I bruised on my belly the first time I had needles there, it looked pretty bad but didnt hurt either at the time or after. At the next appointment I showed my acupuncturise and she asked if I bruise easily (I do) so she uses finer needles in that area now and its not happened again.

For context, I've also bruise on and off on that fleshy bit between ankle and achiles, and the bit below the knee (should learn the names really!) But never as badly as the belly bruise. But as I say, I do bruise like a peach! Mention it next time you're there 😊 x

Angie887 · 10/07/2021 17:33

@beckyCarlos my bruises didn't hurt either and it doesn't bother me. I do bruise very easily.

Is the acupuncture review you're talking about? How's that? My acupuncturist never mentioned that.
Any news about your fertility tests?

beckyCarlos · 10/07/2021 22:28

My place does a review at 6 weeks to see how youre getting on, so for me my sleep is better, my boobs are sore for less time before my period, and my period generally is 'better' so redder, less clots etc. I chose to go again weekly for 6 weeks to give myself the best chance at the best 'environment' if that makes sense?

I finally got consent forms through from the clinic (after I called for the third time) and while I'm told not having them doesnt affect appointments etc I'm minded to not believe that haha. I'm going to call on Monday to follow up my AMH and folicle count. Husband got his analysis back (finally!) And while its just our interpretation at the moment, he doesnt produce much fluid generally (although its just above the acceptable level), but his overall sperm count is quite low, motility is about 50%, and the other one...morphology? Is quite low as well, so between the two of us were... fertile challenged 🤣 but we're both trying to make small sustainable changes so by the time my other tests are done we should be in the best place we can be.

How are you getting on? X
