Positive result but mirena coil in situ

Hi all please can I ask some advice... I have had pregnancy symptoms for a few weeks, weight gain, boobs feel bigger, sickness and then this week I've had a bleed which is absolutely the opposite of normal for me it's been like watery red if that helps (sorry tmi!!) and also getting pains in my left side this week, started Thursday. I already have 3 children and to be honest I would be delighted to have more, my oh and I were in talks about removing coil some point this year. I took a test this morning just because I had this feeling I was and I had one in and this was the result. The screen on the test is cracked, not sure that would affect its use but myself and OH believe we can see a line. How would you interpret this and do I need to seek advice with having coil in?? Anyone got stories of viable pregnancies with coil?

Thank you!!

How are you getting in @SolitaA ?

ohidoliketobe · 26/04/2021 21:51

I'm 39 weeks with my mirena coil pregnancy. I called my GP and early pregnancy unit when I realised and was sent for a scan that day and I was almost 9 weeks. I've had several extra scans and there's been no sign of the coil in any of them. Aside from bad hyperemesis gravidarum throughout (the main symptom which made me test!), I've had a healthy pregnancy.
Hope all is well with you

Hi all,

Everything is fine thanks. Been checked and scanned no sign of pregnancy. The Dr tested my urine and it was negative she wants me to retest on Sunday again a week later and go back if positive.

Thanks for all comments.

In one sense I'm sad for you as you'd said you'd feel excited if you were, but equally I'm so glad you went and got checked out to rule out anything sinister. Take care OP x

It's made me and my partner think about removing and trying sooner than we had thought. We were going to remove in October time when youngest dc is 3 but we got a bit excited at the thought of it and just thought you never know how long it can take anyway so might be doing so sooner.
