I'd be really grateful if anyone could tell me there experiences.

I have irregular cycles and really want to get them in order. Would acupuncture help with this or is it just an endless pit down which to through money?

Does anyone have a recommendation for the SW London area?

Feeling really desperate at the moment

I've had acupuncture for irregular periods and TTC.
We have one child but have been unable to conceive again. Had loads of tests and investigations at the hospital plus 2 cycles of IVF which all resulted in big zippo.
Then tried acupunture. Whilst I didn't conceive it made a HUGE difference to my cycle - evened it out, reduced the incidence of pre-period bleeding, reduced the heavy flow and I generally felt better. I had about 10 sessions and the effects lasted about 6 months. I'm just thinking of going back again to have another course of sessions. I guess the best thing to do would have been to continue to go regularly but sadly funds did not allow this .
The acupuncturist I used specialised in gynie type problems and was great but she's based in the north of England.

Thanks for your replies - may I ask how much it costs and how often you need to go?

I've been going to someone at the Clapham branch of Neals Yard, and my cycles have become more regular, though of course that could be coincidence. He's £45 a go.

I went a fab acupuncturist called Julie in Northampton - she used to wrk in Londonin a gynae dept so she may be able to help you. Think her web site was niceneedles.co.uk or something like that. I had IVF and it really helped me. Also had refexology and that was fab too.
I paid about £25 a session and had them weekly.

IVF worked BTW!!

Mine cost £36 a go ( although the first one was more expensive as it was a longer consultation) and I went every week for about 6 weeks and then it went down to once a fortnight.

I was diagnosed with PCOS long before I started TTC. I also suffered from occasssional very large cysts on my ovaries. For the biggest I was scheduled for surgery. I went to an acupuncturist a week before the surgery and saw him every day for 7 days. When I arived at the hospital they scanned me and the cyst was gone!

Many years later I decided to TTC. After 2 months of trying I went to an acupuncturist in Hammermsith (is W6 good for you?). I had four treatments and he also prescribed some Chinese herbs. I have no idea whether it was the acupucture or just luck but on the month I received the treatment was the month we conceived . We are now thinking of going for number 2 and I will def go and see the same guy again.

The cystic follicles associated with PCOS can disappear over time - only to be replaced by further cystic follicles.

Accupuncture won't do harm but it certainly will not solve the problem completely. Use conventional treatments as well alongside ccupuncture. Do not use one to the exclusion of the other.

If you do use accupuncture ensure that you find a properly qualified person; ask questions of these people, don't be ripped off.

I just had my first treatment last night to try and reduce my cycle length (last one was 50 days) to help with TTC.

I'll be going once a week till this cycle ends and then once a cycle for maybe another 3 cycles. It's not supposed to be endless.

I'm going to the London Acupuncture Clinic in Harley Street, it's £60 for the first consultation and then £40 for each treatment afterwards. It's worth calling them to ask them how they would treat it and how long they would normally take.

I had a MC in August and since then my LP became very short and cycles irregular. Was prescribed low dose of Clomid by my gynae for 1-2 cycles to lengthen LP. Started a course of acupuncture at the same time with an acupuncturist that specialises in fertility. Have had 2 sessions so far (every week for first 6 weeks). Am now on 1st cylce of Clomid and acupuncture, and so far am at 10 DPO this cycle and waiting to see when AF comes, compared to LP of 8 days for last 2 cycles. So don't know yet if it helps TTC, but either Clomid or acupuncture or combo of both has helped lengthen my LP by at least 2 days and counting. And feel a lot better after the acupuncture sessions - finally much more relaxed after a rough and stressful few months.
