Did you conceive with low sperm count?

If so, how low? I'm just curious as my partners is on the low side (25million) and we have been trying to conceive for some time. I think there may be an issue with me and will be looking into getting some tests done.

Is it possible to conceive with a low count?

We have extremely low count (less than 1mill) and been told our chances are about 5% of conceiving naturally. so it's possible.

Isn't 25m a fairly normal sperm count?

namc78 · 12/04/2021 10:27

@Bells3032 thank you for replying! Are you currently trying to conceive? I read the WHO guiline is 39Million so assumed we would be considered low

@namc78 we skipped straight to IVF at 5% is not really worth trying to conceive naturally. Just finished my second cycle

namc78 · 12/04/2021 10:42

@Bells3032 I guess that would make sense! I hope your second cycle is a success, can't be an easy journey!

Yes my husband literally had one sperm that did the job. We weren't scientific at all and he just put lots of effort in to get me pregnant.

DioneTheDiabolist · 12/04/2021 10:57

Ex was told he had a low sperm count with only 5% chance of fathering a child naturally. My coil came out at 43, I was pregnant at 44.Blush

Following!
Hubby's result was low count

thislittlebird · 13/04/2021 23:23

I find this topic confusing and I’m interested to hear people’s stories.

My husband’s count is high but the parameters are rather low does that still count as low? He has very low motility but a high count, and I would still see that as low but not sure doctors will agree.

My partner took a test when we were TTC a number of years ago, count came back ZERO sperm! So in time we came to terms with it and continued life as normal without contraception, fell pregnant a number of months later! Now pregnant again.
I think sometimes the added pressure of charting ovulation etc doesn’t help, as hard as it is try to forget about it and just see what happens naturally xXx good luck to all

@DioneTheDiabolist that must have been quite a shock for you!

@Xaxnxdxrxexaxandrews87 congratulations! its very difficult to try and forget about when you have been trying for a long time

Hello all, I am following with interest as after TTC for a year, DHs results have just come back and he has a low concentration count (10 million) and also low morphology (2%). We have been advised to DTD only every second day from CD7 and if no luck after three more months, to get a DNA fragmentation test. Although the results look very poor, the doctor didn't seem overly worried at the moment and we are keeping our hopes high for now! After all, it only takes one 🤞🏻 this thread is giving me some positivity.

Hi. Is anyone still active on this thread?

LondonladyTTC · 08/11/2022 08:08

Hi @Hoping43 , I'm still around. Ended up having ICSI as DHs count didn't improve after six months of taking supplements and living a healthier lifestyle. Our son was born three weeks ago.

Hello. We went for two rounds of ivf with icsi to freeze for a second child in the future. Went for a third round and didn't respond. Turned out I was pregnant. This happened about a month after this threat. Husbands count had gone from 1 Mill to 5 Mill but still very low. And it was fraternal twins. Sadly lost one at 10 weeks but the other is a very cheeky 10 month old now

s14a · 08/11/2022 15:04

That's really good to know. Did you do anything to get it to increase that much? My husbands is about 7 million now but in 2020 it was 13 million so we're trying to figure out what changed so dramatically.

Anonbaby · 08/11/2022 17:45

@s14a we are the same, a drastic change from normal to abnormal x

Bells3032 · 09/11/2022 07:19

I do but I don't thjnk it'll be that helpful to people as we knew the cause so easier to treat. He had damage to his piturity gland due to canxer as a child. Due to treatment it also stopped him producing the cells needed to start producing sperm. We were told even with treatment we'd be lucky to get over a few 100k. Prior to treatment he had 10 immobile sperm. We were thrilled when he got to 200k as it meant that ivf was an option.

He was on synthetic testerone as well which suppresses sperm production so we had to wean him off that onto menopur and then added in gonasi. Took about 2 years from starting that process to when we conceived.
