Just looking for some advice (sorry I’m not used to mumsnet lingo so it may not be many abbreviations!)

We have been ttc baby number two for 10 months now.. just been using a normal period tracker previously to predict ovulation. This month we decided to use clear blue digital ovulation kits which actually showed my ovulation days as way off what we were originally thinking. I had 3 flashy smiley days before 1 static smiley.. we had sex everyday from the first flashing smiley, including 2 days after static smiley (knackered haha!)

I’ve been feeling a bit off lately- exhaustion mainly and just not right within myself with a few tummy pains. Due on my period yesterday and did a clear blue pregnancy test on first wee of the day- very clearly negative. It was one of those that says that it can predict up to a few days before your missed period, so I just automatically presumed it hasn’t worked for this month.

I’ve not come on yesterday or today and I’m usually like clockwork... my question is, would you test again or come to the conclusion that first test was right? Tbh negative pregnancy tests are literally the most depressing thing ever so I don’t know if I can put myself through the pain again if I’m just sending myself mad in the long run! It took years to conceive baby number 1 so I have such a negative relationship with pregnancy tests!

Sorry for the waffling but appreciate any advice xx

I would use a FRER and test tomorrow morning. Good luck.

I've found with the Clear blue ovulation kits I need to DTD one day before the smiley face to get preggo

I've found my CM increases the day before my ovulation and so try to pounce on DH then. Invariably I get the first smiley face the next day.

Hasn't led to me keeping a pregnancy yet, but definitely a common pattern for me

If you wait 2 weeks after your first static smiley you should be at around 12dpo (ish) how long ago was your static?

Heymumma29 · 05/04/2021 21:00

I’m so sorry, what’s FRER? I’m totally useless 😂

So my static was on the 20th March so I’m presuming it should be showing a positive if it had been successful on my conception date.. but I’m not sure if I’m being optimistic? 🤦🏻‍♀️

FRER is "First Response Early Response" pregnancy tests lovely, they're the most sensitive :)

Mamajules43 · 05/04/2021 22:04

I think if you've had a negative on day your period is due, assume it hasn't worked this month. Frer are very good though.

Did you get pregnant quick with first baby?

Kay00 · 05/04/2021 22:08

If your static was 20th March then you might have ovulated a day or two later. Two weeks from then is today, so you're probably about 14 days past ovulation (DPO). If you are getting negatives at 14DPO then you were probably not successful in this cycle, sorry. You are likely to start your period (AF) any day now, but some luteal phase's (LP) can be up to 16 days long.

Thank you, that’s really useful information. So after our ‘positive’ smiley face on the clear blue ovulation tests we had sex everyday for that day and 4 days after. I’m presuming we haven’t been successful this month tbh. I was due on yesterday and not started yet so it’s just hard to accept sometimes! With our first it took 2 years, so we weren’t expecting an easy road but I think I was a bit naive after conceiving with our DS thinking it could happen easier second time round 😔
