So me and my partner are going to start TTC however he only has one kidney was just wondering if this can effect chances of conception?

No, can’t see why it would. Is his single kidney hereditary ?

Veterinari · 04/04/2021 20:23

No. His kidney has no bearing on his sperm production

DisgruntledPelican · 04/04/2021 20:28

My brother has one kidney and he has three children.

I don’t think it’s related to the reproductive system tbh

DramaAlpaca · 04/04/2021 20:30

No, it won't have any effect at all. Like a pp said, the kidneys aren't linked to the reproductive system.

lol

No, what a strange thing to think. How did he end up with 1 kidney? If its hereditary it may impact on the baby but wouldn't impact on your ability to have a baby.

I have been told this by someone at work and read it online but good to know it doesn't effect. No it was cancer he had

Yes cancer can definitely affect fertility, but I think it's while treatment is ongoing. Number of kidneys isn't really the issue. I know someone who had leukaemia years ago, and had a gazillion children though.jusr ask him what he's been told.

Bunnybigears · 05/04/2021 07:07

The cancer treatment he received could be an issue for fertility not the I kidney.
