Do fertility patterns run in families?

My mum needed a lot of help having my Dsibs in her mid-30's, but she also has thyroid problems which caused issues.

But DP's mum had her kids all in her late 30's with no issues, and her own parents had all their kids in their late 30's/40's.

Does anyone else have stories/info on this?

I can only offer anecdotal evidence, but my mum conceived me the first time she had sex.
My sister has been pregnant 5 times, conceived the first time she had sex.
I have had unprotected sex twice and conceived both times, once with twins.

My mum always said a bloke just had to leave his trousers on the side of the bed and the women in our family got pregnant.

My mum, sis and I all conceived within a month or two of stopping contraception every time (8 children between us). Haven't discussed it with the below but ...

MIL had 4 children, at least 3 were acknowledged as not planned. DD and DSis daughter also have accidental children.

Ages of mothers range from 25 to 37 at the time they delivered.

My mum conceived almost immediately both times she wanted to. Perfect pregnancies, perfect cycles. I have mad, hugely long cycles, and lost my first pregnancy at 12 weeks. So far, not similar

There obviously are genetic disorders than can run through families, along with certain gynae issues. My mum and I both have retroverted uterus, but that is just less common to the other way, not abnormal or a genetic issue. Certain job roles can impact a mans semen motility, so in theory, if father and son both worked in the same factory/area they could both be affected.

It depends specifically on what the fertility issue is as to whether it might 'run in the family'. There are so many factors that can affect fertility. Unless its a specific genetic disorder, it might be hard to see a link.

DM lost a baby but had 3 daughters. The three of us have all had several losses but had four daughters between us. Does make me wonder if we can't carry male children.

It is similar in my family my DM has had 7 children sadly one was a stillbirth, she used to say she only had to think about DTD and she was already pregnant 😂 my 4 sisters have gone on to have a lot of children with no problems conceiving in the first few months, I myself was a little different to my sisters, it took 5 years to conceive DD due to pcos but during those 5 years I lost weight and reversed the effects of PCOS and have gone on to have 3 more children in the space of 5 years. My DM has 21 grandchildren at the moment (some of us still aren't finished having children 😂) the eldest being 19 and the youngest 13 weeks so more than 1 child a year is born in our family lol. My dad's mum was the same 5 children in a very short amount of time and her children have gone on to have plenty of children with no issues ttc, then again she wasn't well liked as she was very promiscuous in her younger years and probably couldn't tell you who the fathers of her children are 🙄

My mum got pregnant first time with all 3 of her children, myself 3 miscarriages and 8 months of trying to conceive for my latest pregnant to which I am now 39 weeks. I always naively thought I'd be like her but no!
