AF has just turned up.

Been ttc for about 8 months now (lost count) and why is it that each tww has a new/ different symptom that convinces me this is our bfp month?

Anyone else?

I'm 40 and dp has agreed we need to take steps with the gp now.
No idea what they can do.

We have 1 dc already - 4 so they may do nothing but worth a try.

Hi OP, 8 months isn't that long in the grand scheme of things, particularly at age 40+ so don't lose hope yet. You can definitely visit your GP at this point though and we'll most likely get sent for day 3 and day 21 blood tests to check your hormone levels and whether you are ovulating. In honesty unless you have endo or something like that there probably isn't much else they will do as you won't be eligible for a fertility clinic referral because of the fact that you have a DC already, you haven't been trying long enough, and depending on where you live the age cut off for fertility treatment is 40 (it's 42 in some areas though). You could however book a fertility MOT at a private clinic and very quickly get a much more thorough investigation and idea of what your chances are. Good luck xxx

Thank you.
I didn't realise they don't help if you have a child already so won't bother calling now!

That's just for funded IVF. They'll still run fertility tests for you to check that you're ovulating and potentially to see what your ovarian reserve is looking like.

Oh really @bitheby thank you!
