Covid and TTC

I have a 27 month old boy and both my husband and I are quite keen to start trying for baby number 2. However, with Covid still being very much a thing we've decided to delay until I received my vaccine. However, with the news of there to be vaccine delays, I'm ready to just start trying now as who knows when will be a good time. I work from home so even I were able to get pregnant soon (and who knows how long this can even take!) so we could continue living our quiet life.

I'm nearly 36 so have some time (in theory, who knows!) but ideally would like a smaller age gap and possiblity for baby number 3 if we're feeling truly mad.

Is anyone go through a similar thought process? Curious on any viewpoints! No, I'm really just looking for arguments to convince my very cautious husband. ☺️

@TeaAndToast001
I think it's down to no one else but you and your husband. Obviously the vaccine is great and it helps to know you've had your first dose before you're pregnant because covid in pregnancy can be very dangerous.
I'm in a similar position however with a difficult history - we had a TFMR last year just before the start of lockdown and 4 early losses since. In theory, we'd want me to have the vaccine first but we're also actively trying again due to our history of losses and the uncertain timeline of things. We're very much of the opinion "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it". Our DC1 will be 3 in summer and we wanted a 2y age gap. It would've been, had our second not been so poorly. We never expected to have issues having a second child, yet here we are 1.5 years after first trying for a second and we're still nowhere near it. I'm not wanting to scare you, but this is our experience and our reasoning why we're not waiting for the vaccine. We fall pregnant rather easily so there's a good chance we will before I'm offered the vaccine, but we don't know whether the next pregnancy will be viable. There wouldn't be a difference waiting for the vaccine other than losing precious time we could in hindsight have used for further testing. I hope this all makes sense 🙈

Thank you taking time to respond and sharing your experiences.
Also -big hug-
It is a reminder that one thing we have some control over is when we at least start to TRY to conceive and everything else is out of our hands.
And good luck to you and your family. It's all a doozy right now...

Us! Also 30s but early 30s. We were thinking of waiting until end of June/July anywhere due to work things and want a March baby earlier due to that. We might have had our first vaccine then anyway and happy to wait an extra month if we know it's coming, but thinking if it starts going all t*its up will just go for it.

My thought is it could take months anyway

We planned to start at around this time last year for our first and put it off but have just started ttc this cycle. I'm 34 and whilst worried about COVID I am also worried about running out of time! What finally pushed me over the edge was the news that the variants were affecting vaccine efficacy. Even after getting the first vaccine we might need boosters for the new variants. Who knows how long it will be before anyone feels properly protected from COVID. I can't hold off forever.

Yes, excellent point! I think I'm fully on board but need to convince the husband this weekend (ugh that doesn't sound great but such is life!)
