I had my first dose and then fell pregnant unexpectedly. I have cancelled my appointment for my second dose

Flopsy88 · 23/03/2021 13:59

I got pregnant two weeks after having the first dose. Unfortunately miscarried last week which I'm sure was unrelated. Had the second dose today and will be TTC again as soon as possible

tipilass6 · 23/03/2021 14:02

I also feel pregnant two weeks after my first dose. Will be cancelling my second one as per guidance

*fell

Hoping to ttc after my second vaccine next month. Is there any official guidance available on this?

whymewhyme · 23/03/2021 16:34

The guidence is changing all the time, I looked on NHS earlier and it said that you can conceive strait away. Original guidence was too wait 2 months. Obviously do your own recerch.

Nice to see some positive stories. I had my vaccine last week and hoping it won't affect anything for this cycle :)

ClaraBean · 23/03/2021 18:51

I had my vaccine then found out I was pregnant just after! I obviously tested before the test but it was before af due and only had internet cheapy so it came up negative.
I'm not too worried after some reassurance on here. I guess I'll cancel my second one though!

I really dont know what to do

Covid vaccinator here. Official guidance is wait at LEAST two months after your second dose.

OohImBlindedByTheLights · 23/03/2021 23:01

Sorry should have said my board in England have advised us to tell staff 2 months.

Haiyaa · 23/03/2021 23:11

@OohImBlindedByTheLights that may be what your board recommended but it is simply incorrect. Are you a healthcare professional because the guidance went around some time ago so surprised a board is actively going against official advice. Here is the latest guidance from the Royal College of Obstetricians:

www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/coronavirus-covid-19-pregnancy-and-womens-health/covid-19-vaccines-and-pregnancy/covid-19-vaccines-pregnancy-and-breastfeeding/

I am a pharmacist and also a vaccinator. I was vaccinated at the end of January and have just got my BFP.

When the vaccine was first introduced there was guidance to delay TTC for two months after second dose but this was not because there was a known safety risk, just a lack of data. Since then many women have been vaccinated whilst pregnant and TTC.

Better to be vaccinated now than get covid later whilst pregnant.

OohImBlindedByTheLights · 23/03/2021 23:14

@Haiyaa yep, HCP.

I have heard conflicting guidance but researching it there on official channels all agree with what you're saying!!

I think I'm going to raise this tomorrow morning with the team leads and get clarification.

Congrats on your BFP!

Haiyaa · 23/03/2021 23:23

Thanks @OohImBlindedByTheLights, it’s so strange that your board is recommending that, so hope you get some answers! I think part of the issue is also with initial advice being to delay when TTC meant that automatically women who wish to become pregnant at “some point in the distant future” may also put it off and you are left with large amounts of the population who are unvaccinated. Like I said, there is no evidence for harm. Animal studies on fertility and pregnancy have also been fine and whilst it is not exactly the same, they were using huge doses with no concern so that is promising.

whymewhyme · 24/03/2021 06:10

NHS guidlines have changed now it says you no longer have to wait before TTC.

I don't know why im so hessitant. I'm not anti vax i just would like my body to be as natural as possible.

Hi there, anyone know why the guidelines have changed from "delay a few months" to "no need to delay?" Did they find new research or new data proving its safe now? Or is it just based off of lack of data and not hearing of any alarming issues thus far has given them enough confidence? Just trying to find out why the guidance has changed for some reassurance.

I am currently TTC and trying to decide whether to get the vaccine or not. I would love to have the confidence to get it and feel safe during pregnancy but I just have so many questions with the unknowns .
