TTC & Covid vaccine

Hi, has anyone had the Covid vaccine whilst TTC?

I’ve been invited for my vaccine (which is strange as I’m 33 with no underlying conditions) . I excitedly confirmed my appointment as I wasn’t expecting to be invited so soon it’s booked in for this Wednesday.

I’m now concerned as I’m currently TTC, my two week wait for my period starts this week and I’m not sure if I should cancel my vaccine appointment.

I want the vaccine but not sure if it’s worth it if it could jeopardise a possible pregnancy.

Hi, I'm 31 and was called for my vaccine at the beginning of this month. I was also TTC and was worried.

Long story short, I spoke to the doctor who said it was fine to have whilst TTC and I thought my ovulation had already passed. Turns out I am now pregnant and would have been when I had the jab but again the doctor said it will be fine and that I should just avoid the 2nd jab.

I'd advise that you speak to your GP as everybody's circumstances are different. I think In hindsight I wouldn't have had mine but apparently I ovulated way earlier than expected that month.

I also think there's a few threads on here about this somewhere with more advice from others but again probs best to discuss with your doctor before making a decision

I should also add that I had the Oxford vaccine and was quite ill the following day. I had a really high temperature a flu like symptoms

Thanks for your response and congratulations on the pregnancy ❤️
I feel it’s important to get the vaccine for my own health because , this is our 2nd month of TTC and there’s always the possibility that I may not get pregnant this month in which case I should get the vaccine. I’m so torn 🙈 I will speak to my GP and go with their advice too.

Thank you 😊

Yeah that was the part that I struggled with. I kept thinking, well what if it takes years to get pregnant then I might as well have had the vaccine. It's a difficult call to make.

I think most people our age who have been offered the vaccine have underlying health conditions so definitely worth a chat with your GP to see the pros and cons of having it right now.

I think the most risk would be the side effects like a higher temperature - mine rose to 38.6 the day after the vaccine but managed it with paracetamol and rest. I'm just hoping that there have been no other effects since then. But I wasn't told about this from the GP. I think a bit more guidance from medics and the government about women TTC wouldn't go a miss!

Only advice I would recommend if you do decide to have it, is try book the vaccine when you have started your period and maybe hold off TTC until a week or so after or the month after if it makes you feel better.

I'm in the same boat! 33 with a mild underlying condition and have been offered vaccine. I have decided to wait until more data is available re TTC and pregnancy. However, if I felt I was high risk in any way then the scales would tip towards taking the vaccine. It's a very personal decision.

I had my vaccine at the end of January, faint BFP yesterday. There is no reason at all to delay, it could be worse if you got covid whilst pregnant.

I may delay my second dose but only because I have already had covid as well as my vaccine so I should have reasonable cover. I’m still undecided on that though.

I know a women who lost her baby due to having covid (literally, covid caused placental issues, baby had restricted oxygen, and died).

I'll have the jab without question when offered.

Hello. I had the vaccine in Jan (NHS worker) and found out I was pg 2 weeks later. If I were you, I'd get it. It's infinitely better to have the vaccine than get Covid in pregnancy. Also the advice is that you can have the jab while ttc. Glad I came on this thread, good to hear other people's experiences/thoughts! My doctor just told me there's not enough data and we couldn't possibly know, so that's what informed my decision - maybe I should have accepted!
