How long to get pregnant with low morphology

Hi Everyone,
My DP has just received his SA results and he has 3% morphology and potentially slightly sluggish swimmers (the Dr isn't worried about the sluggishness as he thinks this was likely a result of transportation methods getting the sample to the clinic). I am wondering how long it took others to get pregnant (naturally or otherwise) with similar challenges. And also whether your DP's have managed to improve their morphology through supplements etc.
Thanks!

My husband had 1% morphology and we have never had any problems with conception (DD1 - 6 weeks, DC2 - first time). As I understand it, morphology alone is not a big problem: www.olivefertility.com/blog/sperm-morphology

Hello! I don’t have too much experience in this but my DH’s morphology was lower than that and the consultant said it doesn’t matter because the count and motility was fine and apparently those are the main parameters! Smile

Apparently, even a low morphology doesn’t change much because the filtering process in terms of which sperm make it to the egg is so specific and as long as you have the count, it shouldn’t take too much longer to conceive.

I don’t know if that’s completely helpful but just thought I’d share what the consultant said. Good luck lovely Flowers

Thank you both so much, that is great news!

My DP was very proud of the fact that his sample was 'much larger than average' so I figured 3% of a high count is probably about even with 10% of an average count!

Exactly @CaymanCat! That’s kind of the way the consultant explained it to me and DH so the only thing you can do now is get busy WinkFlowers

The threshold for the sperm morphology to be considered "normal" is 4% so actually 3% isn't that bad

My husband has had a morphology score between 0.5%-3% over several different semen analysis tests. The rest of his results were well above average. I have no known fertility issues and conceived my other children easily with my ex husband.

The one time we have gotten pregnant naturally in 5 years ttc, it ended in a MMC. We did have successful IVF.

His GP initially said the results were fine (stating the other great results) but we pushed for a referral. Now I know more about infertility, I have realised that both our GPs knew incredibly little about it!

The fertility clinic saw morphology as a definite reason to move on to IVF. We met quite a few other couples at our clinic with morphology issues.

There's no reason you shouldn't be able to conceive with lower morphology. It might just take a little longer. The key thing is to repeat the analysis more than once to get a better idea of what you are working with and how you might possibly feel if more intervention might be needed.

Good luck!
