Hello all,

Just after some advise/I need to calm down over thinking😂

So me and my partner got a little to excited the night of the 26/02/21 which led to unprotected sex... I took the morning after pill on the 27th around 11am so well within the 36hours of taking the pill....

On Mother's Day (14/03/21 UK) I took a pregnancy test as I was 2 days late onto my period to which I was super shocked but so excited to see that it was Positive!! I have since took 5 tests all to which are positive and mega clear and not one has a faint line!!

Basically my question is will taking that morning after pill effect the pregnancy in any way??

I have tried to google it but I can't find anything!

Thank you xx

The morning after pill doesn't harm the baby if its not effective at preventing the pregnancy, but it can increase the risk of an ectopic pregnancy so let your GP/midwife know and they can arrange a scan to check that the foetus is growing in the right place, and be aware of the signs and symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy in the meantime

Thank you! I've contacted the midwives today as my gp "doesn't deal with this"🥴 they said they don't believe it will effect the pregnancy but it's too early to say apparently x

@lauren2018sf hey lovely! I actually got pregnant after taking the morning after pill back in 2019, I had a miscarriage but I don't think that hat anything to do with the morning after pill! Hope your partner is taking it ok? i know how stressful it can be x

I took the MAP and then realised a few weeks later that I felt sick at the same time everyday. Took a test and BFP. I carried on testing and the line was getting fainter but I made an app with the Gp who did a pregnancy test (just a urine sample) and i was pregnant. So even tho the lines were getting fainter I was deff still pregnant

So sorry, I didn't read your thread properly. I don't think any harm will come but I'd speak to your GP/midwife. congratulations!

Congratulations 🎉

Did you know that all the MAP does is prevents ovulation? So if you conceive during OV, then take the MAP, it's basically useless. I conceived my daughter because of that exact reason. (I mean thank god now that it didn't work, she is the light of my life, but I was sure shocked at the time!) I was told at the time that it wouldn't affect the foetus. Good luck OP x

PS huge congratulations!! ThanksThanks

My 3rd child was born after I took the morning after pill. Everyone health care provider told me it wouldn’t do any harm to the baby and I can confirm he is absolutely fine! He’s 6 and quite smart and quick witted! Also, congratulations 🥳💕

Thank you for your response! I have spoke to the midwife and she just said "she doesn't think it will harm the baby, but if I had a scan now it's to early to tell as I'm only 5weeks+2" but just got to wait until my first appointment x

Congratulations!

Someone has probably already said this - but depending on the morning after pill you take it only acts to delay your ovulation - so if you have already ovulated or ovulated on the day you guys had sex it wont have any effect.

So no, no effect on your pregnancy. good luck!
