Does anyone have short cycles?

Hi all, the reason for my post is that I'm currently TTC baby number 2. Baby number 1 was conceived very easily (first month of stopping pill I fell pregnant back in 2018.
I came off my pill in September 2020 and we started trying in January. I appreciate this isn't a very long time at all but I've noticed my cycles have become very short and I've read lots of things about women worth a short Luteal phase having less chance to conceive.
My last 2 cycles have been 22 days. I've been using OPK's to help track ovulation and I think I roughly know when that happened. I'm putting ovulation at the 6th March which makes me 10DPO today - I think AF has just started (although I was hoping it was just implantation bleeding or spotting). So what I'm asking is, is a 10 day Luteal phase too short to help conception/implantation take place? Thank you xx

@Confused678866 hello! If AF started today at 10DPO that actually makes your LP 9 days. Rule of thumb is that it's best if you're in the double digits, but you definitely still hear of ladies getting their BFPs with 9 day LPs.

What I would say though is that it's probably you still recovering from the pill potentially. It seems to hit some people harder than others so definitely keep monitoring your cycle and see if it improves cycle by cycle.

Lastly - how do you track ovulation? With my temping I've realised I seem to be ovulating the same day as my peak LH test, whereas most women assume it's 1-2 days later. That small difference could be adding/subtracting a day or two from your LP calculations which could make all the difference!

I have short cycles. My last one was 23 days (used to be 25 but after 4 losses they have got shorter). I ovulated on cd10 last month. I use opks and take bbt.

When I was just using apps, I was worried I had a short luteal phase as they'd put me as ovulating around cd16 for some reason.

So I'd recommend tracking. Good luck.

@Juno231 Thank you for your reply!
At the moment, I'm just using OPK's and this is my first month using them. I've used clear blue. Had my solid smiley on Friday 5th March and admittedly, I did just assume ovulation as of the 6th as I don't do temping, I can't say 100%.
What is strange, in January I was just logging periods at this stage because of not using OPK's and my cycle was 29 days. February 22 days and then again this month 22 days.
I think the reason that I don't think it's the pill because I've had some longer cycles, it's just recently that they've began to get shorter. I'm not on any medications, not under massive amounts of stress (just the usual day to day stuff like everyone) so I just can't understand it? I've tried to speak to my partner about it just but I think he just gets a bit flustered with it all and I think it secretly worries him but he won't admit that. I've read so many stories about people with a short luteal phase so it just concerns me I guess. Xx

@VenusStarr Hey, my last 2 cycles have been 22 days. January was 29 days so it's quite a sudden change. I was really hoping it wouldn't happen again this month, but it has. I've also been cramping since Friday which is really strange for me so I just feel like there's something going on and I don't like the idea of it! I don't do bbt and this was my first month of using OPK's. I had my peak smiley on CD11 so I put ovulation down at CD12 (as I don't properly know) and now 10DPO, AF has arrived. Xx

I have short cycles. They were 24 days but since getting covid a year ago were more like 22-23 but I had a couple of 21 day cycles. I started doing OPKs and temping which suggested I was ovulating on CD12-13 giving me a 9-10 day luteal phase. I conceived DC3 on cycle 5 or 6 and currently 11 weeks. I did a lot of frenzied googling research into LP defect and it seems research is limited and there are different schools of thought about how much it affects fertility. You might have to push to get things investigated. I read that vitamin B6 can help improve LP issues but don’t know what dosage etc. My own sense is that some people have a short LP because of an underlying issue which can be treated (eg progesterone) and some people, like me, because they just do! Good luck!!

@Aozora13 Thanks for your reply.
Sorry to hear that you had covid! Ahh okay but you conceived, which is fab. Congratulations!
I have been doing a lot of googling which really isn't good for my mindset at the moment. I'd already read things previously about vitamin B6 so I think I'm going to look into that and get some advice so I know what I can take etc.
I really don't know why mine have changed.. as someone mentioned in this thread, it could be from stopping the pill but as I stopped that in September, I really thought 6 months would be enough to be regular again. I fell pregnant in my first cycle with my baby number 1 and that was from coming off the pill too so I'd be surprised if it's having such a drastic effect on me this time around but I suppose bodies do change. 3 out of 4 cycles have been either 22 or 23 days and one of them was 29 days, so it's all a bit odd.
My diet isn't the best lately which is something I want to change, it hasn't lead me to putting on weight but it still needs to change and I know all do these things can help. I just can't put my finger on why it would be so short these days.
Thank you! X
