Positive test, just started progesterone. Scared of another mc

Morning, I had a positive preg test couple of days ago after 3 consecutive mc. Started progesterone yesterday evening. Just so petrified it will go wrong again. Can't think of anything else. I have zero symptoms and logical side of my brain saying that's normal at this stage- period due tomorrow I think. I'm 39 so obviously haven't too much longer to try. I'm desperate to talk with my mum but don't want to worry her. Not sure why I'm posting really just wanted to tell someone other than partner who is remarkably calm. Lucky to have 1 dd so she can distract me but she's at nursery today so just me and my work!
My frer tests seem to be darkening a bit but IC still really faint. Anyone had any success stories with progesterone after mc?

Apologies for lack of paragraphs and length - head all over the place

Just posting to say good luck and that I have everything crossed for you. I've just had my second recurrent miscarriage and if I get pregnant again I'll also be prescribed progesterone so hope so much it works for you. I'm also 39 so understand what you're going through.

Jeds55 · 16/03/2021 10:13

Thanks @DappledOliveGroves it's crap that you're going through it too, wishing you all the best for the future. It has helped a bit to know that I've got a bit of extra help. I also started baby aspirin 75mg on day I found out. Not advised by a doctor but seems it can't hurt and may help in situations like ours, some other ladies on here have had success with it.

I have had 9 miscarriages, and an ectopic. The ectopic,They prescribed progesterone and 75 mg aspirin. That baby grew and grew even after the injection to stop it. I really believe had that one been in womb it would have made it. I’d take aspirin too if I was you. Some early miscarriages are caused by blood clotting so aspirin thins the blood and helps prevent that. As my doctor said throw everything at it, may not work but at least you’ll know you’ve done everything you can x

Wishing you all the best OP!! Lots of positive thinking, huh? I remember too well the crippling feeling of constant testing and knicker checking. Got everything crossed for you Thanks

Jeds55 · 16/03/2021 11:44

Thanks @Jakc so sorry to hear about your losses. Did you find out the cause? I'm waiting on referral to reccurrent mc clinic. I agree with your doctor, is a relief to feel that I can proactively do something rather than just sit and wait.

Thanks @eensyweensySpider the knicker checking and testing is in full force here. How do people just do one test?! Had a tiny amount of brown discharge yesterday but nothing since so that's good.

No apparently there’s no reason for it. Just done ivf to try again but sadly didn’t work. They gave me progesterone suppositories and the injections until I got negative test so wasn’t that it just didn’t implant

Jeds55 · 18/03/2021 07:20

Really sorry to hear that @Jakc ttc can be so cruel and unfair. Wishing you all the best for the future

I had two consecutive MCs and then took progesterone from the day of my BFP with DS2. That was a sucessful, full term pregnancy.

Two years later, I got fed up of spotting in the days leading up to my period and saw my OB/GYN who prescribed progesterone for the second half of my cycle. It stopped the spotting and I'm pretty convinced helped me get (unintentionally!) pregnant with DC3.

I carried on taking it until 12 weeks, and am now 16 weeks and fingers crossed, everything is going smoothly.

Best of luck, I know the knicker checking anxiety all too well. I have to say that with DC2 and 3 I honestly only did 2 tests. I knew testing any more would only cause me more anxiety so I refused to buy any more or even have any more in the house and for me, that did help.

Jeds55 · 18/03/2021 13:32

@PrimeraVez is lovely to hear progesterone success stories, thank you. Congratulations on your current pregnancy too.
I used to spot from 2 days pre-period but this has increased to 4-5 days pre period in recent months so I do suspect low progesterone (and maybe work stress in recent months)is a major factor.
I'm afraid I haven't stepped away from the tests yet (even though I know it is the sensible thing to do). It's not even reassuring me as they seem to be the same for last couple days (although clear blue did move up to 2-3 today.) I know it can't change the outcome but I just hate the idea of being blissfully unaware so would like any heads up the test could give me if things are heading south so I can mentally prepare. With my dd I stopped testing once symptoms kicked in so all being well that will be soon.

I'm 41 and 7 weeks pregnant with #3
I'm on progesterone and aspirin as I've had 2 misses over 2 years ttc

I'm hoping this works

I was about to start femara when I found out I was pregnant
I only took 2 tests

Jeds55 · 19/03/2021 06:26

Hi @teachermam thanks for posting and congratulations on your pregnancy. Have everything crossed that it'll be successful for you. Are they giving you an early scan? They said they would for me but even if they don't I'll go private. It's the only was I coped with pregnancy for my dd as had a mmc before that also.
Not feeling positive here at all. Tests are fainter today on fmu that was very undiluted. People say test lines don't matter but I've been here enough times to know they do. Worried that the progesterone will delay any mc but have done some reading and maybe only by a couple of days. If this goes wrong will contact new doctor here and chase up referral to rmc.

I gave birth to my baby last November aged nearly 45 after 3 consecutive mcs. Didn't have progesterone found out I was pregnant just before lockdown and just before I was meant to go to the recurring mc clinic - they cancelled the appointment due to covid. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 for you!!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 19/03/2021 06:40

Ps the fact you have had a successful pregnancy before is positive (I have other children and have had 5 miscarriages - 2mmc altogether).

Jeds55 · 19/03/2021 09:45

Thanks for the positive post @onlyreadingneverposting8 and congratulations on your baby.
I've also had 2 mmc and 2 early mc. I hope at least if it's going wrong this time it does it early and doesn't become a mmc. Your post has given me hope that I have time.

I do wonder about my successful pregnancy as I conceived straight after having a hsg (think it's called that - the one where dye put in tubes) so wonder if that had some impact but then other ones have obviously implanted so not sure why it would make a difference.
