Is nobody concerned about falling pregnant prior to having the jab?

I probably won't be eligible to have the jab until July I believe, so if I wait until then to start TTC I'll miss out on a potential 3-4 months. But if I get pregnant straight away (which I did first time around, not that it indicates it would happen again), then I am going to end up pregnant for 9 months with no jab. I'm also concerned as I fall into some higher risk categories for being pregnant and falling seriously ill with Covid such as BAME and 35+ (as per Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists). I really want to begin TTC, but feel I would be stupid to risk doing so prior to having the jab. I just wondered how others feel about this as clearly the boards are full of people TTC and I assume most haven't had the jab yet?

I think you just have to weigh up the risks for you personally and if you have time/age on your side. I am cycle 3 TTC and we are just going to carry on and see what happens - I am not high risk for covid. If we are not pregnant by the time I’m offered the vaccine then I will take it and continue TTC.

I had my jab in December but carried on TTC. For me, in my job, I thought the benefits outweighed the risk.

It doesn't worry me in the slightest and I'm currently pregnant. If it's just that you're BAMe and 35+ that puts you at higher risk, I wouldn't worry too much either. Do you live a healthy, active lifestyle?

On a personal level I've never been worried about catching covid, the risk of any significant complications for me as a twenty-something female, even BAME, are miniscule. So we went on with it and I'm pregnant.

Perhaps phone your GP and ask if they fast track people ttc - worth an ask

I’m in the same situation, although 33 not 35!!

I’m also unsure about having the jab then getting pregnant the next month as my friend on the Oxford trial was told to wait 6 months...

Personally I would wait till after the vaccine. I wouldn't want to risk contracting covid when I'm pregnant. You have a lower immune system and they aren't sure if covid affects the way the placenta functions. You don't know if your going to contract covid and have mild or severe symptoms. If you have severe symptoms how would that affect your current children?
I'm a nurse on the front line and come into contact with covid and potential covid patients a lot therefore my risk is higher. A couple of my friends have said they have had a few mothers (non of which had any other increased risk other than pregnancy) die in ITU loosing both mother and baby, where mothers have died and baby has survived or where the baby has died due to placenta deterioration.

@custardbear I tried to ask my GP for advice, not to be fast tracked but just some reassurance, and they said they wouldn't advise on covid mattersHmm
