TSH and Hypothyroidism

Hi. Battling with my brain here. Quick insight. Baby was born prem at 35+4 weeks. C section. As mother was going to have pre-eclamps (again) so docs decided to get baby out as it wasnt benefiting being inside mummy. Baby came and had a small infection and was put on anti-biotics. for 5 days. Had loads of bloods ect done. Everything normal. Then after 1.5weeks. Was allowed to go home. Then during the following week. Nurse or mid-wife came around to do a heel prick test for bloods as "something was picked up previously". Results came hand delivered the next day saying TSH levels high and gave appointment next day for Thyroid screening. Baby had Thyroid scan and Thyroid is present. Done blood tests and consultant said everything is ok. But gave another appointment for another blood test. Following the blood test results came back with slightly high levels. And so is put on Levothyroxine. I have researched this medicine and is a powerfull drug. Now. My baby dosent have no symptoms of hypothyroidism. She is not lethargic, she feeds well. Wakes up herself for feed. No large tongue on belly button. No dry skin. Jaundice was at birth but colour is fine. There is no hypothyroidism in any of me or my wife. I've also read that medication and food levels can affect the outcome of blood test result. Anyways.....We have a follow up appointment next week. And I have listed many points to quiz the consultant. I have read case studies and saw videos on children who are on Levothyroxine for life and there is a clear sign that they are on some sort of medication. So basically. My point is this.... How do we know that Levothyroxine hasn't contributed to how a child/person has ended up. Has it made it worse ? There is a video on Youtube on the "Dr. Bob show about Thyroid mistreatment. Ive also studied tests studies from different countries. I have seen pictures of babies that are born with hypothyroidism and there is a clear indication there is slow development. But my baby has no physical symptoms what so ever and nothing suggests to me that there is a problem here. Is it possible that she dosent need to be on this. I know people believe in docs and consultants heavily. But my heart and gut tells me I should stop this medication for her as I dont want to give her something she may not need... has anyone else been through this situation ? I would like some insight if you have because its mentally crashing my head. Thanks for reading. Z Sad
