Hi all,
I had my thyroid tested with my CD3 bloods. They were 3.85. I read that for conception they should be under 2 but my DR said no mine are normal. Has anyone got any experience regarding this? Thankyou

Hi op, not sure if it's area dependant, but my trust is TSH under 2.5 for conception and pregnancy. I'm pregnant and they will be testing me every 8 weeks to check my dosage. I didn't start levothyroxine until I was pregnant with my first baby and conceived with a TSH around 4.
I felt terrible until I started medication around 18 weeks so I'd definitely recommend getting on top of it before pregnancy.

I have an underactive thryoid (Hashimotos disease) and my endocrinologist has always been very clear that my TSH should be under 2 if I am actively TTC. I don't think 3.85 is necessarily a major concern (you may not have issues conceiving at that level) but it's not ideal.

Hi, @Fizzybelts

I’ve just had my bloods done at mine came back at 4.1 my GP won’t entertain the idea of treating it but said a fertility clinic would. Sorry I can’t help but you’re certainly not alone I’m on a post pill thread on here and there is quite a few of us with raised TSH

Juno231 · 28/02/2021 13:05

GPs do fob raised tsh levels off even though it's meant to be below 2.5 for ttc and can cause subfertility and then foetal brain damage apparently! I asked an IVF doctor about this who was visiting work and he said it's critical for tsh to be below 2.5 for fertility.

Mine is similar to yours though and if my NHS fertility doc doesn't do anything about it I'll go private to get a second opinion that isn't restrained by NHS costs.

Thanks so much for all your replies. My DR wouldn't entertain it at all. I have previously been on medication for my thyroid, which is why i wanted to get my bloods checked. We are going in to cycle 8 of TTC.
@Juno231 how long have you been TTC?
@ChinChilly, thankyou. Its concerning that they won't treat it. When its easily treated and could help with TTC.
