Hi I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice please. I've had 4 pregnancy losses 1 eptopic and 3 chemical pregnancys ending between 5 to 6 weeks ( I no children) my doctor has refured me to the NHS reccurent miscarriage clinic, the appointment is April 2021 and says 9 out of 10 couples start treatment within 40 weeks (I am 38 and feel I havnt got long left now to have a child) I'd like to know people experiences with reccurent misscarages and what happens in order at the clinic. Any advice would be really helpful thankyou

Hi,

Im also 38 and although I have children they were all conceived when I was in my 20’s.

I unfortunately suffered 4 miscarriages in the past 12 months. One at 9 weeks, and 3 around 6 weeks.

After the 3rd loss my gp referred me to a fertility consultant where I had various blood tests done. All these came back great. I then had a scan done to check my ovaries and egg count.all great there too.
My partner was sent to have a semen analysis done. Again all great.

It seemed we could fall pregnant easily enough but my body wasn’t hanging onto it. Even though my progesterone blood test had shown great progesterone levels.

I fell pregnant again a few months after the appointment. Sadly miscarried that one too.

In the mean time I’d done all sorts of research about what I could try, and decided that if I fell pregnant again I would start myself of a low dose of aspirin.

My next cycle after the miscarriage I started myself on 150mg aspirin daily from 1dpo. I drank pomegranate juice from 6dpo as I’d read it can help implantation. I was already taking 200mg a day of ubiquinol to help with the quality of my eggs.

I then got my bfp at 8dpo. Straight away things felt different, they felt more positive. My lines were dark early on and progressed really fast. Unlike other times when lines hadn’t progressed well, or I just had a feeling.
I didn’t have loads of symptoms, just slightly tender breasts.
My EPU scanned me at 5+4 and amazingly we saw a heartbeat. They then started me on cyclogest progesterone pessaries as a boost.
I’ve since had several more early scans. Most recently at 8+5. Baby still measured bang on, with a strong heartbeat, and wriggling around.

I 100% believe it’s the aspirin that made the difference. Over on the pregnancy board I’ve since spoken to LOADS of ladies who had been in exactly the same situation, lots of recurrent losses, who put themselves on 150mg aspirin (the old UK recommended dose was 75mg, but it’s now 150).

I’d got the stage where I was willing to try anything and figured what did I have to lose! I was already losing every baby I fell pregnant with.

My midwife has since said it does no harm but may do some good so she’d never tell anyone to stop taking it.

Good luck with your journey. I’m so sorry for your losses. X

Hey @Moominmiss, I think you were on last month's post around 4 weeks. So pleased to hear things are progressing well for you.

I have just had a positive test again after losing it at 5 weeks last month, so keeping my fingers crossed. I've had 3 losses in a row (and suspect this one will turn into a 4th). I might try and speak to the gp about aspirin tomorrow (though it may be too late for this pregnancy) as a few people have recommended it.

@Newbie202012 I'm sorry for your losses. Hoping your appointment is soon, and is useful.

Moominmiss · 21/02/2021 20:14

@treesall yes! I was on a thread with you. Tentative congratulations on your bfp, but I know that feeling of just wanting to be cautious.

Honestly if I were you I wouldn’t wait to speak to a GP about the aspirin. I just buy mine in the supermarket. Under £1 a box. Just start taking them. It won’t do any harm, but might make all the difference.

I honestly believe that’s why I lost my 3rd. I’d left messages with the fertility consultant as I was a bit wary of starting on it without medical advice. But they took over a week to get back to me and in that time I miscarried. I wish I’d just started on it myself.

I will keep everything crossed for you that this really will be the one that sticks for you! X

@Newbie202012 definitely give the aspirin a try. I truly hope it works for you like I seems to have done for me.

This is where I buy my ubiquinol from. It’s not cheap, but it’s best to get ubiquinol as opposed to coq10, as the ubiquinol is more easily absorbed.
