First time trying home insemination

Hello everyone

First of all apologies if this is the wrong thread for this specific question!

Been researching home insemination as DP gets real performance anxiety and since we started trying in October '19 our sex life has dwindled to almost nothing.

Theres a couple of things I can't get my head around.

How 'fresh' does the sperm need to be?

We read that DP should leave two days between ejaculating. But then, how are we meant to have enough to insert it morning noon and night on fertile days?! Surely we'd need a good batch of about 10 'doses' for it to have the best chance?

Are we missing something. Please help. X

@catscatsallthecats Hello! 👋🏼

The sperm needs to be very fresh, every time. What method are you using? Syringes? Soft discs? Both? How do you pinpoint your fertile days?

You don't need to inseminate 3 times a day, that's excessive! Home insemination follows the same principle as intercourse: you do it either every day or every 2-3 days. Studies have shown minimal differences in conception rates among these frequencies.

We have a thread for self insemination here, with lots of support and info! Feel free to join!

Thank you @eloiseislost For the hello and the link - I will join you over there.

I've always tracked my cycles using Clue app and now the clear blue digital ovulation trackers. After having the coil removed 18 months ago it took almost a year for my cycle to be anywhere near regular (some months it was 69 days long, others 17...) so hopefully we are at a stage where we can better predict things now.

I am really grateful for your reply at what is a bewildering and also exciting time!
